In his first interview after assuming charge as Ambassador of Lebanon to India, Hadi Jaber discussed the devastating impact of the ongoing West Asian conflict on Lebanon. He revealed that Lebanon has suffered 912 martyrs, over 2,200 injuries, and more than one million displaced persons—representing 20 percent of the population. Jaber explained that Lebanon was 'dragged into' the war after Hezbollah launched six rockets against Israel on March 2 without government approval. He stated that the Lebanese Cabinet, presided over by the President, decided to outlaw Hezbollah's security and military branch, declaring that decisions on war and peace 'should be exclusively done by the state'. Jaber presented a four-point peace plan including a complete ceasefire, support for Lebanese Armed Forces, seizure of Hezbollah weapons, and direct negotiations with Israel under international sponsorship. Significantly, he condemned Iranian attacks on Gulf countries, stating it is 'not acceptable at all' and 'not acceptable by any means, under any pretext'. He emphasised Lebanon's historically excellent relations with GCC countries.
