The Universe This Week | Why was the universe empty in the beginning?

What happened when the universe was just in its infancy? How did the first stars form? What was it like when there was no light for the first few thousand years after the big bang? 

Scientists at the US Department of Energy’s (DOE) Brookhaven National Laboratory are planning a bold move, setting up a radio telescope on the Moon, that could peer into the early years of our universe.
