Women in Blue finish clinically - India were under pressure early with Renuka leaking runs in the first over, but the inclusion of Shreyanka Patil proved a masterstroke as she removed Georgia Voll and Ellyse Perry to shift the momentum. Renuka bounced back with a wicket of her own, and from there India kept things tight despite a brief scare from Ashleigh Gardner. A stunning catch from Jemimah Rodrigues to dismiss Gardner and Harris' hit-wicket dismissal sealed the contest, with Patil and Charani sharing six wickets to wrap up a memorable win for the Women in Blue.

Mandhana and Jemimah lay the platform - Earlier in the game, India Women put up a competitive total but, given their flying start, would have wanted a few more. Smriti Mandhana led the charge with a classy 82 off 55, adding 121 with Jemimah Rodrigues, who struck a half-century but found boundaries hard to come by. Richa Ghosh added a brisk cameo late on, though the hosts could not quite finish with a flourish. For Australia Women, Kim Garth and Sophie Molineux picked up a wicket each, while Annabel Sutherland impressed most with two scalps, including a superb final over that went for just two runs to rein things in.

Gardner's fight in a losing cause - Australia's chase burst out of the blocks with 18 runs coming off the first over, but the momentum quickly faded. Three wickets in the Powerplay dented their progress, and although Phoebe Litchfield and Ashleigh Gardner tried to steady things, the pressure kept mounting. Gardner looked the most dangerous, bringing up a fine half-century, but with the asking rate climbing steadily, she too fell. From there on, the target proved a step too far for the rest of the batting line-up.

PLAYER OF THE MATCH - Smriti Mandhana gets the accolade for her brilliant 82 off 55 balls. She says that it was good to contribute to the win and to beat Australia in Australia, feels good as well. Adds that Jemimah Rodrigues came in and made her run hard and that partnership was crucial. Smriti shares that they have played T20 matches in Australia after a long time but will not be carried away and focus on the ODI series now. ... THE RUN CHASE ...

A tough task ahead - The Aussies will feel 177 is a gettable score on this wicket but it will need some chasing. Their bowlers were inconsistent at best and those one-over spells didn't quite work out for Sophie Molineux. Every bowler went for around 8 to 9 runs an over in terms of economy but no one built any sort of consistent pressure on the batters. Annabel Sutherland certainly delivered a magnificent final over, but was that enough? Only time will tell. Stay tuned as the run chase is up next.

Runs on the board - The Indian skipper, Harmanpreet Kaur, mentioned at the toss about putting a good total on the board and that's exactly what India have done. After losing Shafali Verma early, it turned into the Smriti-Jemi show for India. Jemimah Rodrigues played the cheeky shots and got out off the blocks quickly as Smriti Mandhana just kept raising her game up a notch and accelerated all throughout her inning. The duo ruled the middle phase but soon enough, Rodrigues struggled to find the boundaries and it was up to Mandhana to throw caution to the wind. She did hit plenty of boundaries, including some big ones as well but fell for 82. Rodrigues also notched up a fifty as Richa Ghosh made a quickfire 18 before the last over completely sucked the momentum out of the innings.

Enough of a comeback? A good, fighting comeback from the Aussies at the death and that final over from Annabel Sutherland will certainly give them some momentum. However, India Women will feel the damage had already been done in the middle phase of the innings, thanks to that huge 121-run stand between Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues.

19.6: Annabel Sutherland to Deepti Sharma, OUT! DEEPTI SHARMA IS RUN OUT! Annabel Sutherland bowls a slower delivery, fuller and on the fifth stump. Deepti Sharma leans forward to reach the pitched area of the delivery and tries to swat it across, but ends up hitting from the toe end. The ball loops and drops safely in the vacant wide mid on region. Ellyse Perry sprints from the boundary ropes and throws it to the keeper's end as she spots Sharma struggling to get the second run. The rest is done by Beth Mooney. Despite the dive, Deepti Sharma fell short of reaching her home. India Women ended their inning posting 176 runs on the board.

The Australia Women skipper - Sophie Molineux says that they would have bowled first anyway. Adds that they want to continue from where they left off in the last game. Mentions that she loved how their bowlers stuck it out in the last game, they knew that India would come hard but they didn't panic. Says that she is loving her time as a captain, the girls and the management have been great and supportive. On Ellyse Perry playing in her 350th international game, she calls her a legend and says her contribution to the game has been priceless and she deserves this moment. It will be great to win against India on this special occasion. Informs that Nicola Carey is not playing and Grace Harris comes in for her, it is purely on the basis of tinkering with the balance of the team.

The captain of India Women - Harmanpreet Kaur says that they will look to put a good total on the board and enjoy the game. About their last match, she says that in batting, they should have concentrated on building partnerships. She hopes that her bowling unit will provide the same performance they gave in the last two matches.
