Auqib Nabi earns maiden India A call-up, Dhruv Jurel named captain for Sri Lanka tour
Dhruv Jurel will lead India A in two four-day matches against Sri Lanka A, with Jammu & Kashmir pacer Auqib Nabi earning his maiden call-up. The tour is expected to serve as a key red-ball preparatory assignment, giving players valuable exposure to Sri Lankan conditions.

Wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel will lead India A in their upcoming multi-day tour of Sri Lanka, while Jammu and Kashmir fast-bowling all-rounder Auqib Nabi has earned his maiden call-up to the side after a breakthrough domestic season.
The Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee announced the 14-member squad on Saturday for two four-day matches against Sri Lanka A, scheduled to be played in Galle from June 25 to July 5. Devdutt Padikkal has been named vice-captain for the red-ball assignment.
Nabi's inclusion is among the biggest highlights of the squad announcement. The 24-year-old was rewarded for an outstanding Ranji Trophy campaign in which he emerged as the highest wicket-taker with 60 scalps and played a pivotal role in helping Jammu and Kashmir secure their maiden Ranji Trophy title. The fast-bowling all-rounder has also been part of the senior India team's net-bowling group in recent red-ball assignments.
India A's batting unit features several established domestic performers, including Sai Sudharsan, Ruturaj Gaikwad and N Jagadeesan. Vidarbha batter Aman Mokhade and Andhra Pradesh's Shaik Rasheed have also received their first India A call-ups after impressive performances in domestic cricket.
The pace attack will be spearheaded by Nabi alongside Yash Thakur, Anshul Kamboj and Gurnoor Brar, who has recently been on the fringes of the senior national setup. Spin responsibilities will rest with Zeeshan Ansari and Saransh Jain, while all-rounder Ayush Badoni provides an additional spin-bowling option.
Notably, both Nabi and Zeeshan have been involved with the senior Indian side as net bowlers during preparations for the ongoing Test assignment against Afghanistan. Meanwhile, Gaikwad, Badoni, Thakur and Kamboj are already in Sri Lanka as part of India A's squad competing in the ongoing 50-over tri-series in Dambulla.
The tour is expected to play a crucial role in India's red-ball pathway, with players getting an opportunity to adapt to spin-friendly conditions and the red Kookaburra ball ahead of the senior team's two-Test World Test Championship series in Sri Lanka later this year.
