Sai Sudharsan returned to form with a composed, 57-ball hundred, his third IPL century, anchoring Gujarat Titans' innings against RCB at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Opening alongside Shubman Gill, Sudharsan put on a 128-run stand for the first wicket after RCB opted to field, setting the platform for a big total.

The hundred also placed him on a notable list. Sudharsan became the 14th batter to score an IPL century against RCB and only the second Gujarat Titans player to do so after Gill's effort in the 2023 season.

He did not begin in convincing fashion. His first boundary came off a thick outside edge that ran past short third, but he settled quickly. A deliberate steer through the same region followed, before he produced a crisp punch through covers. Even when he stepped out of his crease early in the innings, there was no urgency, only control, as he pushed the ball straight back to the bowler.

RCB's bowlers struggled to hold their lines, and Sudharsan made them pay. Rasikh Salam was pulled and cut for consecutive boundaries as the left-hander began to move through the gears. The first six of the innings followed soon after. Against Josh Hazlewood, Sudharsan used the pace well, scooping him fine for four before carving a six over cover-point and adding another boundary behind point in the same over.

He moved to 41 off 27 balls, ensuring Gujarat Titans did not lose momentum in the powerplay, which ended at 57 without loss. His half-century came off 33 balls, brought up with a controlled scoop off Romario Shepherd. He continued to find the boundary without forcing the pace, keeping the innings on track.

In the middle overs, Sudharsan maintained the tempo while expanding his range. He uppercut Krunal Pandya over deep third for six and followed it with a slog sweep, bringing up 2000 IPL runs in the process. He got to the landmark in 47 innings, the fastest in the tournament, going past Chris Gayle.

There was no let-up. Sudharsan began the 13th over with a six over wide long-off against Suyash Sharma and followed it with a straight hit, continuing to dictate terms. He remained measured through the innings, picking his scoring areas and keeping the board moving before Josh Hazlewood used pace and bounce to bring an end to his fine knock.
