IPL 2026: GT vs CSK fixtures swapped due to Ahmedabad civic polls
The Board of Control for Cricket in India has tweaked the Indian Premier League schedule, swapping fixtures between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings due to civic polls in Gujarat.

The afternoon clash originally scheduled for April 26 in Ahmedabad will now be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, starting at 3:30 PM IST. In turn, the reverse fixture on May 21 has been shifted to the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where it will be held as an evening game from 7:30 PM IST.
The decision has been taken in light of civic elections across Ahmedabad and other parts of Gujarat on April 26, with logistical and security considerations prompting the change.
The IPL 2026 season began on March 28 with the opening match between defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. A total of 21 matches have been played so far in the 19th edition of the tournament.
The BCCI had initially released only a partial schedule due to pending state elections in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Assam. Following the announcement of poll dates, the full league-stage schedule was confirmed on March 26, just two days before the start of the season.
The remaining 50 league matches are being played from April 13 to May 24 across 12 venues — Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Jaipur, Dharamshala, Raipur and New Chandigarh. The second phase includes eight double-headers, with afternoon matches starting at 3:30 PM IST and evening fixtures at 7:30 PM IST.
The BCCI is yet to announce the venues for the playoffs. However, the final of IPL 2026 is expected to be held at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium after Royal Challengers Bengaluru lifted the title last season.
As it stands, Rajasthan Royals lead the points table, while three-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders are currently at the bottom.
