Breakout India spinner Manav Suthar has signed a short-term deal with Warwickshire for the next two rounds of the County Championship, the English club announced on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old left-arm spinner, who impressed on his Test debut against Afghanistan last week with wickets, is set to be available for Warwickshire's fixtures against Yorkshire and Somerset.

Suthar joins the county side after a rapid rise in the past few years. Before making his India debut, he had picked up 129 wickets in 29 first-class matches. Warwickshire said Suthar would add a new dimension to their bowling attack as they continue their push for the County Championship title.

Speaking after the signing via a press release, Suthar said he was excited to join a side that has started the season strongly and hoped to contribute to their title challenge.

MANAV SUTHAR'S STUNNING TEST DEBUT

Manav Suthar impressed on his debut for India in the one off Test match against Afghanistan. Suthar found turn and bounce on a relatively slow track and troubled the Afghan batters with both drift and spin. He was so far ahead of the other India spinners, Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav, that he bagged six wickets in the first innings, helping force Afghanistan to follow on.

Suthar was brilliant in the second innings as well, as India bundled out Afghanistan for just 112 runs on the third day of the Test match, securing a huge win by an innings and 300 runs, the biggest in their Test history.

Suthar was the only specialist spinner selected in the Indian Test team in recent years. He is expected to feature in India's Test series against Sri Lanka later this year as well.
