23:47 IST:
Onto the next one - That’s a wrap from this absolute run-fest, where Mumbai Indians return to winning ways in style, bringing smiles back to their fans, while Lucknow Super Giants’ slide continues in the league. Up next in IPL 2026 is a blockbuster clash between Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on May 5, Tuesday. The action begins at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT), but as always, you can join us early for all the build-up. Until then, cheers and goodbye!
23:47 IST:
PLAYER OF THE MATCH - Ryan Rickelton wins the award for his outstanding knock of 83 off just 32 balls. He says that Rohit is one of Mumbai’s finest and among India’s all-time greats, and he genuinely enjoys batting alongside him. Adds that the wickets at the Wankhede have been excellent, and we back each other, constantly communicating and helping one another out in the middle.  As for batting here, he mentions that a lot of his teammates said his game would suit this venue. Coming from Johannesburg, he is used to pace and bounce, so it feels quite similar. He didn't think much of it initially, but he has really enjoyed it. The ball comes on nicely and allows you to play your shots. End by saying that he has adapted well and always looks to keep improving while staying grounded.
23:44 IST:
The victorious stand-in skipper of Mumbai Indians - Suryakumar Yadav, on what was the conversation in the strategic break after conceding 90 runs in the Powerplay, admits that they have been put into such a situation for several times this season but says that they knew they could control the game with a couple of wickets. He credits the bowlers for responding with great character and says pulling it back and restricting LSG to that total was brilliant. He adds that the bowlers had their plans and just needed to back them, and the character they showed was commendable. On the chat before coming out to bat, Suryakumar points to a previous game where MI scored 240 and Sunrisers still chased it down. Says that they knew it was chaseable and that the mindset was clear. Points to the start they got, praising Rickelton for his brilliant knock and reserving special words for Rohit Sharma, who came back raring to go and entertained the crowd in his own special way. On the opening partnership, he says it is always important to get a good start while chasing a big total, credits Rohit and Rickelton for doing exactly what was required, and also acknowledges the contributions of Naman Dhir and the rest of the group.

23:37 IST:
A quick chat - MI's Naman Dhir says that it feels good to win after suffering back-to-back defeats and chasing down a score of over 220. Adds that the chats in the dressing room have always been positive. They haven't clicked as a team, but the bowlers did a fine job, and then Rohit and Ryan Rickelton gave them the perfect start. They clicked as a team in this match. Dhir mentions that Rohit Sharma is a great player for them, he suffered a setback with the injury, but he is very important for the team. Says that he is just keeping his game plan simple, trying to keep his bat face straight when he is getting it in the middle and that is working for him.
23:36 IST:
The captain of Lucknow Super Giants - Rishabh Pant admits that given the start they got, they could have put more runs on the board. He feels they fell 15 to 20 runs short on what looked like a 240 to 250 kind of wicket. He adds that the boys played freely but credits the MI bowlers for bowling well and making good use of their home conditions. He adds that while they had an edge early on, on a wicket like this you cannot blame the bowlers all the time and says that they have done a fantastic job for the side so far. On what needs to be done to win, Pant keeps it simple and says they just need some good luck. And on where to find it, he smiles and says it will take plenty of blessings and a little more effort from the boys.
23:29 IST:
Lucknow's bowling falls flat - There isn't much to say about Lucknow’s bowling effort, it just never really clicked. They may have been 15-20 runs short, but the bigger concern was how flat they looked with the ball, especially in the Powerplay where they failed to pick up an early breakthrough. The middle overs didn’t offer any relief either, with Mumbai cruising along comfortably. Manimaran Siddharth picked up a couple of wickets, while Mohammad Shami and Mohsin Khan chipped in with one each, but the strikes were too scattered to make any real impact. Prince Yadav stood out with a tidy economy of around 8, but he received little to no support from the other end as runs kept leaking throughout the innings.
23:46 IST:
LSG fall short despite a flying start - Earlier in the game, Lucknow Super Giants posted their highest first-innings total of the season, but after storming to 123/1 in 8.1 overs, they will feel they fell short of a 250-plus score. Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran set things up with a fiery 94-run stand, Pooran bringing up a stunning 16-ball fifty, but his dismissal triggered a collapse from 123/1 to 160/5. Markram and Himmat Singh steadied things with a crucial 68-run stand to push them close to 230. Mumbai Indians were erratic early, but bounced back well with Corbin Bosch turning the tide with a double strike, the spinners chipped in, and Bumrah alongside Chahar nailed the death overs, conceding just 13 runs in the last two overs to keep the game alive.
23:26 IST:
Rohit-Rickelton power the chase - Chasing a daunting total, Mumbai Indians needed a blazing start and their trusted opening pair delivered in style. Rohit Sharma marked his return from injury with a sublime knock, while Rickelton continued his rich vein of form as the duo came out all guns blazing, racking up 71 in the Powerplay. They didn’t take their foot off the pedal either, constantly staying ahead of the rate with a commanding 143-run opening stand, both cruising into the 80s. However, just when it looked like a walk in the park, LSG struck back with twin breakthroughs to create a brief flutter. But SKY’s composed presence, combined with Naman Dhir’s quickfire cameo and Will Jacks' finishing touches, ensured there were no further hiccups as Mumbai sealed the chase in confident fashion.
23:21 IST:
MI snap losing streak in style - Mumbai Indians snapped their three-match losing streak in emphatic fashion, pulling off their highest-ever successful chase in IPL history. It might not be enough to spark a late playoff push, but the manner of this win will give them immense pride, especially with how they rode out the tricky phases and held their nerve under pressure. For LSG, the slide continues as they slump to a sixth straight defeat, a run that keeps them firmly rooted to the bottom of the table.
23:19 IST:
18.4: Avesh Khan to Will Jacks, SIX! GAME. SET. MATCH! A gorgeous strike into the crowd to scale down a mammoth target in a clinical fashion. A huge sigh of relief for the Mumbai Indians and their faithful as they register their third win this season after a streak of some stinging defeats. Avesh bowls a length ball, on top of off. Will Jacks gets on top of it and muscles it cleanly over the long off fence for a six to seal the deal. And as shown on the on-air graphic, this is the 5th highest successful run chase in IPL history. MI BEAT LSG BY 6 WICKETS AND 8 BALLS TO SPARE!
23:18 IST:

23:17 IST:

17.4: Mohammad Shami to Suryakumar, OUT! IN THE AIR AND TAKEN! SKY falls after yet another start. Shami strikes, but it is a bit too late for the Super Giants it seems. 23:08 IST:
16.5: Prince Yadav to Suryakumar Yadav, WIDE! Slower bumper, just a bit down leg. Suryakumar Yadav moves across the stumps to help it behind, but misses to connect. It is given as a wide for height by the umpire and LSG have challenged the decision with a review. The TV umpire says that the ball is passing over the leg stump, so it is not a wide for leg side. Ball Tracking with a side-on replay now comes up. SKY's head height is 1.83 meters and the ball is passing at 1.95 meters. So it is just above the head height of the batter. But to be doubly sure, the umpire requests UltraEdge as well. It comes up with a flat line. So the on-field decision is upheld and LSG have lost both their reviews. 200 UP FOR MUMBAI INDIANS!

STRATEGIC BREAK! It's been an easy going for the Mumbai Indians from the first ball and they are literally cruising to a famous win in front of their home crowd. And to be very fair, the bowling from LSG hasn't been that great. They have bowled too many hit-me deliveries, and the likes of Rohit and Rickelton ensured that they don't go unpunished. With 57 runs required from 42 balls, the asking rate has shrunk down to 8.14, and with 9 wickets in hand, Rohit well settled, showing his full range, this is MI's game to lose from here. LSG need a miracle to make a comeback. Can they? Manimaran Siddharth is called into the attack. His figures read 2-0-39-0 so far.

Strategic Break! Mumbai Indians are cruising along in this chase, with both Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton scoring at a brisk rate. This opening pair did the same against KKR in the opening game, while chasing 200 plus, and if they can repeat that, MI will be in a great place to chase this down, as they still have a lot of firepower left in the tank. Lucknow Super Giants have been pretty ordinary with the ball, except for Prince Yadav, but they have to step up in this middle phase or this game could slip away very quickly.

5.6: Avesh Khan to Rohit Sharma, Just short! But full marks for the effort from Prince Yadav. A low full toss by Avesh, on the stumps, and this dips a bit as well. Rohit Sharma picks it up but hits it off the toe end and airs it to the right of deep square leg. Prince Yadav comes charging across and dives to scoop the ball to his right. He is not sure whether he has taken the catch and the on-field umpires send it upstairs to check the legality of the catch. After checking a few angles, the TV umpire deems that the ball has bumped on the ground and Prince does not have his fingers underneath the ball while attempting to catch. So, it is Not Out and that brings about a loud cheer from the Wankhede crowd as Rohit stays.
22:07 IST:
Is that a clean catch? Prince Yadav straight away says that he is not sure, and it has been sent upstairs. The replay shows that the ball clearly bounces before going into the hands of Yadav. 'Not Out' flashes on the big screen, much to the delight of the home crowd.

Welcome back for MI's reply with the bat. Rohit Sharma descends the famous Wankhede stairs to a roaring reception as MI's Impact Player for the chase. The in-form Ryan Rickelton accompanies him to the crease. LSG also use their Impact Sub option as Mitchell Marsh is subbed out, making way for the left-arm spinner, Manimaran Siddharth. And for Mumbai, it's a Sharma swap as Rohit replaces Raghu. As usual, it will be Mohammad Shami to take the new ball for the Super Giants. A slip in place and Rickelton to face. Here we go!
21:32 IST:
... THE RUN CHASE ...
21:32 IST:
A huge task ahead - There is no doubt that Wankhede has been a batter's safe haven, with teams batting first failing to cross the 200-run mark only once at this venue. But even targets in the 230-250 territory haven't been safe in this season here. The hosts did manage to chase down a similar target against KKR at home, and would need a similar kind of performance here as well in this must-win game. But given MI's batting inconsistencies this year, and LSG's pace attack being economical upfront, it sets up to be a delicious battle in the run chase. Stick around.
21:27 IST:
Good comeback in the second half - However, it was Corbin Bosch who proved to be the point of difference, fishing out both Marsh and Pooran in the same over to reduce LSG from 123/1 to 125/3. LSG needed their skipper Pant to step up and take responsibility but that did not happen, and a further wicket of debutant Akshat left them reeling at 160/5. Despite that slide, LSG's run rate stayed above 12 and Aiden Markram and Himmat Singh allied together to consolidate with an unbeaten 68-run partnership, though they would admit they could not land the killer blows in the final overs.
21:24 IST:
Marsh, Pooran put MI to the sword - LSG's new opening pair of Inglis and Marsh was broken up inside the Powerplay by Ghazanfar, but Marsh refused to let the side slip into a defensive shell. He found an aggressive ally in Nicholas Pooran and the two made full use of anything in the slot, plundering 100 in the seventh over. The assault completely knocked MI's bowlers off their lengths, with the stumps rarely threatened as the bowlers found themselves chasing the batters around the park. Pooran rediscovered his touch with a blazing half century, and was looking for a big one.
21:40 IST:
15-20 runs short? That's what LSG might be thinking, given the way they started off in the first half, but they still managed to post their highest total this season. Mumbai Indians have managed to pull things back really nicely in the last 3 overs, conceding just 22 runs. And you never know, on a batting paradise like this, with dew expected to come later on, that might prove to be the difference. However, for MI, their bowling attack has come under the scanner once again, with Bumrah going wicketless and expensive again. He could have got one or maybe two wickets, but overstepping cost him dearly.

It is a No Ball for overstepping, a third one from the MI bowlers in this game, and that's just unacceptable. It is a lovely delivery from Bumrah, slightly full and in the channel, nibbling away. Himmat Singh is caught back in the crease and edges it behind to the keeper, who makes no mistake. However, it won't count. Free Hit loading.

20:50 IST:
Strategic Break! Mumbai Indians have pulled things back massively in the last 5 overs, picking up 4 wickets for just 41 runs. Corbin Bosch and the spinners have been the main architects of this comeback, and they know that if they can pick up a couple of more wickets quickly, they can even restrict the visitors to under 200, which was looking like a distant dream when Pooran and Marsh were batting. Lucknow Super Giants need a partnership here, and Aiden Markram holds the key for them. They still have a good platform for a big total, but Markram needs to bat deep with a bit of support from others. Also, Jasprit Bumrah to bowl after the break.

There's an appeal for LBW, turned down by the umpire. Raghu Sharma is getting some good drift here and Suryakumar Yadav has gone for the review. The big question is whether the ball is pitching in line or not. The third umpire checks UltraEdge and confirms that there's no bat involved. Corbin slams the deck really hard, on a good length, around the off and middle stumps. Mitchell Marsh is a bit rushed on the pull shot and mistimes it off the inner half. Hits it flat and straight into the hands of Naman Dhir stationed at deep mid-wicket. Lucknow Super Giants are 125/3 in 8.5 overs.

20:20 IST:
8.3: Corbin Bosch to Rishabh Pant, Nearly a wicket for Bosch! He spears in a good length ball, attacking the middle stump and gets it to skid a bit as well. Pant has no clue and is pinned in the crease. He is beaten by the pace as well as his bat comes down very late and the ball seems to have grazed the inside edge on its way to the keeper. Rickelton dives to his right and gathers the dipping ball in his gloves. The on-field umpires want to have a look at the legality of the catch and send it upstairs for a review. First, UltraEdge is being checked and it comes up with a clear spike when the ball is next to the inside edge. Now, onto the catch. A couple of angles come up and the TV umpire deems that the ball is grounded before entering Ryan's glove. Maybe the inside edge took a bit of pace off the ball. Not Out loads on the giant screen.
20:19 IST:
Has that carried? The sound was definitely woody, indicating an inside edge, but has the ball carried through to Ryan Rickelton behind the stumps? The third umpire is having a look. It seems there is an inside edge and UltraEdge confirms it. Oh, it is a close one but the ball seems to have just hit the turf before entering the gloves. Such decisions are always tricky for the third umpire and he wants to check it from a few more angles. The third umpire concludes that the fingers are pointing downwards and the ball is grounded. NOT OUT comes up on the big screen.

STRATEGIC BREAK! MI definitely need a breather here, as barring Inglis' wicket, nothing has gone their way. Even the best like Bumrah have been taken to the cleaners. Surely, a typical Wankhede pitch with a lot of runs written over it. The first 3 overs went for 30 runs, but the next half of the Powerplay went for 60 with Pooran being the real aggressor. Seems like he has discovered his touch and would want to continue doing this. And in all fairness, it hasn't been great bowling execution from the MI bowlers. They have been completely put off their lines and lengths and desperately need a breakthrough to slow down things. As the field spreads, Corbin Bosch is called into the attack now, replacing Will Jacks.

The skipper of Lucknow Super Giants - Rishabh Pant says they would have bowled first as well, adding that at Wankhede, any target can be chased down. He admits it has been a tough season for them and says the break has brought plenty of reflection on what they can and cannot do, both as a team and as individuals. More importantly, he accepts that they have let their fans down and promises they will give their 200 percent to bring that happiness back and return some love to the fans. He also confirms three changes to the side, with Josh Inglis coming in. Adds that Akshat Raghuwanshi comes in and Mukul Choudhary goes out, while the bowling combination will be decided later.

The stand-in captain for Mumbai Indians - Suryakumar Yadav says that the wicket looks good and it's also a bit humid. In the last couple of games, it has become better to bat on in the second innings, so that's there as well. Adds that Hardik Pandya is unwell so he is filling in his shoes. SKY informs that they have a few changes. Corbin Bosch comes in place of Trent Boult and their very own Rohit Sharma is back, which sent the crowd into frenzy. Surya mentions that they can't hide behind the fact that MI are not known to be in such positions, but it's a game, and they have a lot of pride to play for and have fun out there. He ends by saying that not having any margin for error doesn't really make them dangerous but all they can do is put their best foot forward, try to win as many games as possible and put up a show for the crowd.
