The victorious skipper of South Africa - Aiden Markram starts by commenting on their bowling strategy in the Powerplay. He reckons that they bowled nicely throughout the inning. Initially, they were a bit sloppy but they came back using the bounce and swing. Markram also mentions that the bowlers got the merit because they bowled in perfect line and length. In the middle overs, the change of pace worked well for them. He ends up saying that they had made it out successfully through a very tough Super 8 group, but they will look forward to extending their winning streak further and hope to come back to Ahmedabad for the final.

Against a side like South Africa, you have to grab the half-chances, but they failed to do so. No bowler truly threatened the Proteas, with the only wicket coming via Roston Chase. It was a disappointing outing overall, though this is just their first defeat of the campaign. They will be eager to regroup and bring their best in the next game.

Ngidi and Co. restrict Windies despite fightback - Earlier in the game, West Indies posted a competitive total, but at 83/7, they were in serious trouble before a record 89-run stand between Jason Holder and Romario Shepherd for the eighth wicket revived the innings. Even so, on a good surface, they seemed a few runs short. Lungi Ngidi was the standout with three wickets, while Kagiso Rabada and Corbin Bosch picked up two each. Keshav Maharaj was slightly expensive, but South Africa finished strongly, conceding just 13 runs in the final two overs.

Proteas cruise with authority - South Africa were never really troubled in the pursuit, with Aiden Markram setting the tone yet again. Quinton de Kock began cautiously, playing second fiddle, but once he settled in, he shifted gears effortlessly. The pair raced to 95 inside eight overs before de Kock fell for a brisk 47 off 24. That breakthrough did little to slow Markram, who continued smoothly to register his third half-century of the World Cup. Alongside Ryan Rickelton, who chipped in with a useful hand, he stitched together an unbroken 82-run stand to seal the chase with 23 balls remaining.

Oh what a turnaround from South Africa. The pacers have jolted the West Indies batting unit, and their blazing start seems like a distant memory now.

Shai Hope has a foot on the gas from the very get-go of this match. 17 runs off the first over from Keshav Maharaj, and it is safe to say that the spin-from-the-start plan has not worked out well for South Africa and captain Aiden Markram.

What made things worse was that last piece of fielding from Dewald Brevis. Yes, the catch could not happen, but one would expect a player like Brevis to have better presence of mind and throw it in before crossing the ropes.
