SRH vs LSG highlights, IPL 2024: SRH annihilate LSG, storm back to top 3

A thumping performance for SRH as the Pat Cummins-led team at the right time ahead of the playoffs. The opening duo of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma devouvered on the LSG bowlers as they shared an unbeaten stand od 167 runs to hand Hyderabad a 10-wicket win. Head and Abhishek latched onto the bowlers to score 30-ball 89 and 28-ball 75 respectively. 

There is no holding back for Abhishek Sharma as Travis Head smashes on one end. Abhishek slammed a 19-ball fifty, his 2nd of the season. The opener reached the fifty-run mark in style with a massive six off Ayush Badoni's delivery.

There is onslaught from both the ends as Head and Abhishek Sharma plundered 107 runs in first 6 overs. While LSG managed just 27 runs and lost 2 wickets in the powerplay. It was completely opposite on the other end.

Travis Head has notched up his fourth fifty of the season within just 16 balls. The SRH opener took on Naveen-ul-Haq by scoring 23 runs of his over. Travis Head equalled his own record of the fastest fifty for SRH in IPL for the 3rd time this season.

LSG's stratefy of introducing spin early on in the innings did not pay any dividens, rather it backfired. Travis Head smacked Gowtham for 3 sixes and a boundary in his over. The opening duo have ensured SRH get off to a great start in the chase of 166 runs as they make full use of the powerplay,

The explosive opening pair of Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head has provided SRH to a great start in their chase of 166 runs. Abhishek took on Yash Thakur in the 2nd over of the match as the bowler was slammed for 4 boundaries. 

A superb effort by Nitish Reddy helped SRH save a six on the last ball of the innings. LSG finished off at 165 for 4 after being reduced to 66 for 4 in the 12th over of the match. Nicholas Pooran and Ayush Badoni shared a 999-run partnership from 52 balls as they propelled LSG to a respectable total. Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled a brilliant spell where he gave away just 12 runs and picked 2 wickets in his 4-over quota.

A fluent fifty by youngster Ayush Badoni as he took LSG out of trouble. LSG were 66/4 in 12 overs when Badoni had walked into bat and managed to reach the fifty-run mark from just 28 balls. The batter received an appluad from the LSG camp. 

A brilliant spell by Bhuvneshwar Kumar as he gave away just 12 runs and picked up 2 wickets in his 4-over quota. 

Nicholas Pooran and Ayush Badoni have completed a fifty-plus run stand as runs have started flowing for LSG. The duo led the team's recovery and will look to stay till the end to provide LSG with a strong finish after a rather poor start.

After a poor start, the duo have helped LSG to cross 100-run mark in the 15th over of the match. 28 runs have come from the 14th and the 15th over as LSG will look to score around 160 runs to post a respectable total on the board.

Brilliant field-work by captain Pat Cummins as Krunal Pandya has been run-out for 24 runs. Krunal pushed T Natrajan's delivery towards the mid-off and risked a single. Cummins hit the bulls' eye and Krunal was caught well short of the crease.

Just when he was looking to accelerate the innings, he holed one to the long on as T Natrajan completed the catch. LSG lose 3 wickets...

Krunal Pandya slammed the 1000th six of IPL 2024 from Jaydev Unadkat's delivery in the 8th over. The league has witnessed some record-breaking hitting from the batters. This number is a testament to the runfest which the fans have witnessed this season.

LSG have got off to a rather slow start as they managed just 27 runs in the first 6 overs. This is the team's lowest powerplay score of this season as they also lost 2 of their key batters.

Marcus Stoinis has been sent back to pavillion after he managed to score just 3 runs. The LSG batter pulled away Bhuvneshwar Kumar's delivery towards the mid-on. Sanvir Singh ran across and dived in the front and got his fingers underneath it. LSG in early trouble now. 

KL Rahul was given LBW out but he reviewed it straight-away. The ball had clearly hit the glove and then touched the pad. The 3rd umpire didn't need to check the UltraEdge as the on-field umpire's decision was reversed.

A spectacular catch by Nitish Kumar Reddy at the deep backward square leg. The 3rd umpire confirmed that it was a clean catch as Quinton de Kock was dismissed for 2 runs from Bhuvneshwar Kumar's delivery. It was a high catch, but Nitish maintained his calm and composure to complete the catch. LSG lose an early wicket.

The openers have started off the proceedings for LSG. In the match-up between the captains, Rahul slammed a classy six of Pat Cummins' delivery in the 2nd over od the innings. 

SRH have handed a debut for Vijayakanth Viyaskanth for the clash against LSG while Lucknow have welcomed back Quinton de Kock to their lineup. Viyaskanth was roped in by SRH as a replacement for Wanindu Hasaranga, who had to pull out of the campaign due to injury. Pat Cummins: Thank You (for the birthday wishes). My body feels 31. We would have batted as well. But we have won both ways here and hence not too upset. Hard to know (a good score) as it has been pretty high scoring. It is pretty tough (to qualify for the playoffs) and you have to keep winning till the end, we have not nailed it in the last couple of games and it is time to change that. We have a couple of changes - Sanvir comes in for Agarwal and Viyaskanth makes his debut and replaces Marco.

KL Rahul: We will bat first. That plus a couple of games that have been played here. It is hard to complete forget how important this game for both the sides, but we have played enough cricket. We will focus one thing at a time, bat first and put up the runs on the board. Playing at home becomes a difference, but we play so much cricket that we know how the conditions will be. Quinton comes in, Mohsin misses out and there are a few other changes.

LSG have won the toss and opted to bat first against SRH at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Both the teams make a couple of changes in their playing XI.

Pitch and Conditions: "We are in Hyderabad and once more we are on pitch number 2 where 277 was scored. It has its own stardom. Boundary dimensions - there's some good news for the bowlers as it is the centre pitch, 60-odd meters on either side and a pitch that the spinners won't mind bowling. It feels like walking into a clay oven today. (The pitch) Extremely hard, really dry and you can feel the heat, still hot to touch. It has opened up tiny little cracks. I would be surprised if it is a record breaking total type this evening. It is probably a 200 wicket, very fast outfield and not a lot of dew. The fast bowlers will use their cutters especially in the middle phase of the match. I believe whoever wins the toss would look to set the total," reckon Matthew Hayden and Sanjay Manjrekar.

If SRH win this encounter against LSG, then MI will become the first team to be knocked out of the IPL 2024. If Hyderabad win the match, they will reach 14 points from 12 matches. MI stand at 8 points with just 4 wins in 12 matches and stand at the 9th position in points table.

LSG coach Justin Langer has said that Mayank Yadav's IPL 2024 season has come to an end after he picked up an injury during the match against MI. Mayank was in sensational form for LSG before picking up the injury. (Read more)

Pat Cummins celebrated his 31st birthday, hours ahead of the crucial clash between SRH and LSG. Cummins cut a cake and he was joined by his teammates and his family during the mini celebration ahead of the match. 

Hyderabad witnessed heavy downpour and thunderstorms on the eve of he crucial contest between home team, SunRisers and Lucknow. However, the rain gods seem to be in the mood to show some mercy. Both teams will be looking to seal two full points and take another step toward the playoffs. 

The players from the two teams are out on the field, doing their warm-up drills.
