AUS vs IND, St. Lucia Weather Highlights: Rohit powers India into semis

The rain has stopped. It was another passing shower. There were many before the toss today. The players are returning to the field. Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant are walking into the middle.

Australia have won the toss. Well, it happened bang on time. Mitchell Marsh called it right. Australia have opted to bowl. With a bit of weather around, Australia have the advantage of bowling first in St Lucia. 

The sun is out and the weather is perfect for a T20 match. The players are out at the Darren Sammy Stadium. Virat Kohli is walking out and there's a strong breeze across the venue. Pat Cummins is doing batting practice. David Warner is having a look at the pitch. 

At the moment, there seems to be no threat of rain. But there is forecast for a couple of showers. 

Rahul Dravid leads the Indian team out of the bus. India and Australia teams have arrived at the Darren Sammy Stadium. It's overcast, but not raining at the moment. Captain Rohit Sharma looks relaxed as he heads into the venue. The Indian team looks confident.

As confirmed, the weather is clear at the moment. But, there are chances of a couple of spells of showers. 

Good news folks! The sun is out and the super soppers are at work. It's going to be a stop-start day in St Lucia. The showers might return, but it won't be a long spell. 

GOOD NEWS!!! After most of the morning facing heavy rain, the downpour finally stopped but dark clouds are looming over the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in St Lucia.

BAD NEWS FROM SAINT LUCIA!! It has started raining at the venue, which is certainly not a good sign for this crucial Super 8 clash between India and Asutralia, which will have a lot of implications on who will face South Africa and England in the 2024 T20 World Cup semi-finals. 

If rain ends up playing spoilsport on Monday, India would officially qualify for the semi-final. But Australia's fate would depend on the last Super 8 match between Bangladesh and Afghanistan. 

If Afghanistan beat Bangladesh, Australia would be knocked out of the competition.

Conditions stay gloomy as of now as rain keeps playing hide and seek. Given the conditions in St Lucia, it should not be a surprise if there is a short delay in the beginning of the match. 

There were steady rains in St. Lucia around 11 PM local time. 

The Indian team have reached St. Lucia ahead of the clash. The Indian team stars seemed to be in high spirits ahead of the Australia game. 

At around 2 to 3 am local time, there are chances of thunderstorms. There will be a 40 to 50 percenr chance of rain during that time. 

Ayan Acharya reported that there were clear skies at night time and there hasn't been a lot of rain since 2-2:30 pm. 

The weather on Sunday wasn't promising at all, according to Sports Tak's Vikrant Gupta. It seemed to be raining heavily on June 23, ahead of the game. 

According to the folks at Weather.com, showers are predicted from 5 am in the morning till 7. The match will start at 10:30 am local time and it is expected to be cloudy during that time with a 19% chance of rain.

According to weather.com, there is a prediction of thunderstorms during the all-important fixture. However, the rain chances are slightly on the lower side to be at 15%. There are light rain chances of around 5% during the course of the game along with thunderstorms. Hence, Australia will hope for a full-fledged game as a washout and Afghanistan’s win over Bangladesh will knock them out of the tournament.

AUS vs IND, T20 World Cup St Lucia Weather Forecast: Will rain play spoilsport?

The memories of 19th November 2023 are fresh as India once again face Australia in an ICC tournament on Monday, 24 June. This might not be a semi-final or final of the ICC tournament, but India will look to avenge their ODI World Cup final loss against the Men in Yellow when they clash in the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup 2024. Set to be played in St Lucia, this will be both team's final match of the Super 8 stage.

India already have a foot in the semi-finals, having won two matches. Australia on the other hand have lost against Afghanistan and are just one game away from getting knocked out of the 2024 edition of the T20 World Cup. Australia's chances of qualification depend on them beating India, or on the hopes that Bangladesh will beat Afghanistan to clear their path to the semi-finals.
