Virat Kohli meets 2008 U19 World Cup teammate, daughter before IPL 2026 final
Virat Kohli stepped off the team bus to meet former Under-19 teammate Taruwar Kohli and his daughter before the IPL 2026 final. The reunion, shared by Taruwar online, underlined a bond that survived sharply different careers and Kohli's rise to superstardom.
When it comes to his former teammates, Virat Kohli always remains the same person. Taruwar Kohli, the RCB star's former U19 teammate, met him ahead of the IPL 2026 final alongside his daughter. Taruwar and Kohli were part of the 2008 U19 World Cup-winning side with the former playing a big role in India's win in the tournament. Taruwar scored 218 runs in six matches with an average of 43.60, scoring three fifties. But both men went on to have contrasting careers.
Kohli became the poster boy of Indian cricket and established himself as one of the modern day greats. Taruwar was part of Rajasthan Royals during the inaugural 2008 IPL campaign before later turning out for Punjab Kings in a short spell. His final appearance in the tournament came during the 2009 season.
He didn't go on to get his India cap and had strong stints in the domestic circuit with Punjab and then Mizoram before retiring in 2024.
Taruwar shared a video on his official account, showing Kohli coming out of the team bus to meet him and his daughter. Kohli interacted with his former teammate and his daughter for a wholesome moment.
"10 years. Different journeys. Same brotherhood. Fame changes people. It didn't change Virat. Specially came out of the bus to meet us. Greatness never changed you. Stay always blessed. The GOAT," said Taruwar.
KOHLI INTO IPL 2026 FINAL
Kohli will now get ready for his second consecutive IPL final. The RCB star and his side thrashed Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 1 to book their wicket to the summit clash at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad.
Kohli has scored 600 runs so far this season from 15 matches, including 1 hundred and 4 fifties. Kohli has an average of 50 and a strike-rate of 164.38.
