Shai Hope is the Player of the Match for his unbeaten knock of 63 runs from 80 balls, guiding West Indies to victory. West Indies skipper Shai Hope won a crucial toss and decided to bowl first given the overcast conditions and chances of rain throughout the game. This decision didn't bear fruit until they got their first wicket with India's score being 90 runs. From thereon though, Romario Shepherd bowled a lovely spell and the hosts managed to pick up wickets in clusters in a span of few overs. Everyone contributed with wickets apart from Kyle Mayers with Gudakesh Motie and Romario Shepherd ending with three each. For India, Ishan Kishan scored yet another half-century on this tour and Shubman Gill too looked good till he got out but after that, the middle order totally crumbled and they somehow managed to get to the 180-run mark. In reply, with the game hanging in the balance, Shai Hope and Keacy Carty put on an unbeaten stand of 91 runs to take their side to victory.

India rested a couple of their big guns in the batting department which definitely made a big difference and they had a sub-par total on the board. But their bowling attack in general also lacked a bit of bite and apart from Shardul Thakur no one really showed up as he picked up three wickets and gave his side half a chance. The pace trio of Hardik Pandya, Mukesh Kumar and Umran Malik was off-colour, and even in the spin department, only Kuldeep Yadav did a bit of damage. The ground fielding was also not up to their high standards and they will now look to bounce back strong in the series decider.

A resilient showing from the Windies skipper Shai Hope and Keacy Carty has taken their side to a first ODI win against India since 2019, breaking a run of nine successive losses and more importantly has allowed the hosts to level the series. It really was a solid all-around display from West Indies as the skipper led from the front with the bat and they will be fairly pleased with that effort. The win was set up nicely by the bowlers and the fielders and this was backed up by a fiery opening start by Kyle Mayers. However, they lost a couple of wickets in quick succession and the same happened after a few overs again. Then came the all-vital stand as skipper Shai Hope ended up with a match-winning half-century and Keacy Carty remained unbeaten on a crucial 48 as well. They will now look to build on this win and clinch the decider.

Drinks break! This game looked like a low-scoring thriller but the partnership between skipper Shai Hope and Keacy Carty has all but got the job done for West Indies. India had a great chance of making further in-roads but haven't been able to pick up wickets and the sloppy fielding hasn't helped them stem the flow of runs either. With just 34 runs needed and 6 wickets in hand, its hard to see the hosts losing this one but we have seen stranger things happen in a game of cricket.

West Indies got off to a solid start thanks to some sensational shot-making by Kyle Mayers but then the double blow from Shardul Thakur to get rid of both the openers in the same over pulled things back for India. Thakur added a third wicket which means this partnership between Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer becomes a crucial one for both sides. Only one of India's spinners has bowled so far and a lot will depend on how the hosts play those spinners. And as we speak, Ravindra Jadeja is introduced into the attack.

... THE RUN CHASE ...

Right then, West Indies will be the happier of the two sides at the halfway mark. That said, Shai Hope and Co. will be aware that the job is only half done as batting isn't that easy on this wicket. On the other hand, India would have wanted to cross the 200-run mark but they do have something to bowl at. With the extra spin option in Axar Patel, they have the resources to make a match out of this. Can they succeed in doing so? We shall find out after we return in a bit for the chase.

Romario Shepherd is in for a chat. He says that there was more intensity and he tried to run in hard and tried not to bowl too full. Adds that he got a wicket early in his spell and they tried to just squeeze on the pressure. Mentions that he has a certain role now and he is happy to work hard. Says that the pitch isn't much different from the first game and it is a bit slow as well. Ends by saying that it will be challenging but is confident that the batters will get the job done.

After India were inserted into bat under testing conditions, Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill weathered the storm without much fuss and got India off to a solid start. Kishan continued his brilliant run of form in the Caribbean with his second consecutive ODI fifty while Gill seemed to have found his touch before departing. From 90-0, in no time, India were reduced to 97-3. Sanju Samson and Hardik Pandya then got together but both departed in quick succession before the rain arrived. After play resumed, Suryakumar Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja began a rebuilding job but as was the case earlier in the innings, one followed the other back in the hut soon after. India had a glimmer of hope when Shardul Thakur was batting but even the 'Lord' could not come to their rescue. Towards the end, Mukesh Kumar and Kuldeep Yadav did string a 14-run partnership for the last wicket which might well prove to be vital. 

Having won what was a crucial toss in overcast conditions, West Indies needed their new ball bowlers to strike early. However, it did not go according to plan as they were unable to ruffle the feathers of the Indian openers. That said, the West Indies bowling unit never looked back after breaking the opening stand. They were disciplined with their lines and lengths and had India struggling at 113-5. The two rain interruptions did not hamper their momentum one bit as they kept chipping with wickets at regular intervals. Moreover, their bowling was backed up by equally good effort in the field. Gudakesh Motie and Romario Shepherd were the stars of the show, accounting for 3 wickets each while Alzarri Joseph had two wickets to his name. 

Boy oh boy, this has been some bowling performance by the West Indies! After a crushing defeat in the first ODI, they needed to bounce back and they certainly have and how. India's woes with the bat have continued in the second ODI and have failed to bat their full quota of 50 overs. In the absence of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, the visitors have been rolled over for 181.

The ground staff rush in with the covers and have now covered the entire square. The rain has come at the wrong time for the West Indies who were into India's tail and were just two wickets away from bowling them out. Alzarri Joseph bowls this one on a perfect length and close to the off stump, getting the ball to seam in a touch. Thakur gets pushed on the back foot as he looks to block but gets beaten for pace and the ball goes past the inside edge to hit the back pad. A loud appeal from Joseph and the finger is raised, On reviewing, there is no spike on UltraEdge and Ball Tracking shows that it is umpire's call on impact and wickets as hitting. Thakur has to depart.

Drinks Break! India find themselves in a lot of trouble at 167-7. The onus is on Shardul Thakur to bat with the tail and take the visitors to a respectable total on what is a tough wicket to bat on. On the other hand, West Indies have done an exceptional job with the ball but the job is not yet over. They cannot afford to be complacent and need to wrap the innings as quickly as possible. PITCH REPORT - Shakera Selman and Daren Ganga are pitchside. Ganga says that the boundaries are pretty much the same and it is the same pitch used on the first ODI. Selman adds that a lot of grass has been rolled into the deck and bowlers might get some extra bounce. Ganga then informs that there was variable bounce last time around and it might be the same yet again along with the dominance of spinners. Selman ends by saying that the batters will face a stern challenge but the firmness might allow them to score a bit easier.

Hardik Pandya, the stand-in skipper of India, says that they wanted to bat first anyway. Adds that they want to challenge the batters by batting first. Mentions that they want to know how much they can score while batting first. Shares that the wicket was up and down in the last game. Informs that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are resting as a few questions need to be answered. Reckons that it was a tremendous bowling effort and the fielding was equally good. Feels that they could have finished the game well rather than being 5 wickets down. Ends by informing that Sanju Samson and Axar Patel come into the side.

Shai Hope, the captain of West Indies says that they will bowl first and reckons that the conditions will help the bowlers early on. Adds that they need to put the last game behind them and look ahead to performing better. Mentions that the pitch has been a bit uncertain but both teams have to play on it, so, it's okay. Says that they have the opportunity to bowl first here and will look to put the opposition under pressure. Informs that Rovman Powell and Dominic Drakes are out and Alzarri Joseph along with Keacy Carty comes into the side.
