Women's T20 World Cup: India to face England, West Indies in warm-up clashes
The ICC has confirmed India's warm-up schedule ahead of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026, with Harmanpreet Kaur's side set to face West Indies and hosts England before the main tournament begins.

India will step up their preparations for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 with warm-up matches against hosts England and West Indies after the International Cricket Council confirmed the full practice schedule on Tuesday.
Led by Harmanpreet Kaur, India will first face West Indies in Cardiff on June 8 before taking on hosts England at the same venue on June 10. The England clash will serve as India’s final tune-up ahead of their tournament opener against Pakistan in Birmingham on June 14.
The Women’s T20 World Cup is set to begin on June 12, with a total of 12 warm-up fixtures scheduled between June 6 and 10 across Derby, Loughborough and Cardiff.
India’s clash against England is expected to be one of the marquee contests of the warm-up phase, especially with the hosts also scheduled to meet defending champions Australia on June 8 in Cardiff.
Another high-profile fixture will see finalists from the previous edition, New Zealand and South Africa, face off in Loughborough on June 9.
Tournament debutants Netherlands will begin their preparations against Scotland in Derby on June 6. The Dutch side, along with Bangladesh, Ireland and Scotland, secured qualification for the World Cup through the Global Qualifier.
India recently named a strong squad for both the Women’s T20 World Cup and the T20I series in England preceding the event. The squad saw the return of left-arm spinner Radha Yadav and wicketkeeper-batter Yastika Bhatia.
Yastika’s comeback comes as a significant boost for India after a lengthy injury layoff. The wicketkeeper had missed the Women’s ODI World Cup and the 2026 Women’s Premier League following surgery on a serious left knee injury suffered in September 2025.
The squad was finalised after a selection committee meeting attended by captain Harmanpreet, head coach Amol Muzumdar, selection committee chairperson Amita Sharma and BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia.
India have been drawn in a challenging group featuring Australia, South Africa, Bangladesh and the Netherlands, making the warm-up games crucial in helping the side settle combinations ahead of the main event.
Meanwhile, the tournament has already generated significant interest among fans, with ticket sales crossing 145,000, making the 2026 edition the highest-selling Women’s T20 World Cup in history.
Hosts England will open the tournament against Sri Lanka in Birmingham on June 12.
