Paralympics 2024 Day 3 Highlights: Rubina's bronze highlight on silent day

India's Parvin Kumar missed out on a medal by a long-mark after finishing 8th in the Men's Javelin Throw - F57 Final. Parvin's best throw of the night 42.12m. 

Nithya Sre goes into the quarter-finals of the Women's Singles SH6 after finishing second in her group. Nithya goes through despite losing her last group stage A match to China's Shuangbao Lin 0-2 (20-22, 18-21).

Para-shuttler Sivarajan Solaimalai crashes out of Paralympics after losing to Great Britain's Krysten Coombs 12-21, 10-21 in Men's Singles SH6 Group Stage A. 

India's para-javelin star Parveen Kumar is all set to be fighting for a medal at the Paralympics as his competes in the F-57 Final. 

Sarita crashes out of the Paralympics after losing to world champion Oznur by 145-140. 

Both Sarita and Oznur hit three bullseyes, and that marks the end of the fourth set in a draw. Oznur still ahead by 4 points over Sarita.

Finally a win!! The third set goes to Sarita by 29-28 draw, which also saw the India star hit her first 10 of the match which was followed by her last attempt getting converted from a 9-10. Oznur still ahead by four points.

It is not looking good for Sarita as the India star loses the second set too and by 27-20. The World Champion Oznur takes a five-point lead in 58-53 over Sarita, after hitting three straight Bullseye in the second set.

Sarita faces a tough start after losing the first set to Oznur by 28-26. The Indian star will be aiming to get more out of her. 
 

India's other para-archery star, Sarita is in quarter-final action against world champion Oznur Cure Girdi from Turkey.

India's para-archery young star Sheetal Devi faces a narrow defeat in the Women's Individual Compound Open 1/8 Elimination clash against Czechia's Mariana Zuniga by a total points tally of 138-137. Sheetal misses out on the quarter-finals by one-point.

IT IS ALL GOING DOWN TO THE WIRE!! The fourth set also ends in a draw between Sheetal Devi and Zuniga by 29-29.

The third end finishes in a tie between Sheetal Devi and Zuniga by 27-27. 

Sheetal Devi loses the second set by 27-26 to Zuniga after her second attempt went for a 7.

India's rising para-archery star Sheetal Devi is in action at the Paris Paralympics Women's Individual Compound Open 1/8 Elimination clash against Czechia's Mariana Zuniga. 

India's women's compound archer Sarita moves into the quarter-final of the Paris Paralympics. She beats Italy's Sarti 141-135 in the R16.

 India’s Rubina Francis wins bronze in women’s 10m air pistol SH1 with a score of 211.1.

This is massive from Rubina. Nerves of steel to make a late comeback and steal the second spot after 20 shots. Huge comeback after staying in the 3rd and 4th spot for so long.

Rubina is holding steady at the bronze medal position after her 18th shot.

Rubina climbs up to the third spot once again. It looks like she will be fighting for the bronze medal here. She shoots 9.5 and 10.6 in her 5th series.

Rubina Francis slips down to the fourth position after shooting 8.7 and 9.8 in the fourth series. She is still not in the danger zone and is 0.4 ahead of 5th place Gaelle Edon.

Rubina starts off well. She is in the third position after the first two series of shooting. Only Turkiye's Ozgan and Iran's Sareh are ahead of her.

Rubina Francis' final in Paris is just minutes away. The shooters have lined up to check their gear and we should be underway any minute now.

Manisha Ramadass qualified for the quarter-final, despite losing the 2nd game of the group stage. She lost 15-21, 7-21 to Yang Qiu Xia of China and finished 2nd in her group. She will be back in quarter-final action tomorrow!

Rubina Francis will be back at the shooting range for the Women's 10m Air Pistol final, which will begin at at 6:15pm IST this evening.

Rubina finished 6th in the qualification round of women's 10m air pistol and qualifies for the final of the event, set to be held later today.

Our heartbeats were racing fast as Rubina took her aims in her 6th and final series... Nonethless, she finishes 7th in the women's 10m air pistol qualification event and will participate in the final today. 

She had started off with an 8 and slumped to 9th position. However, she soon made a comeback by firing two 9s and two 10s next. 

Rubina's 95-point 5th series ensured she claimed the 7th spot. Have a look at her scorecard. 

Rubina did it!! She is finally in top 8 after the completion of 5th series where she claimed 95 points. This is exactly what she needed in the lead-up to the last series. In her 4th one, she shot two 10s and three 9s. 

Rubina has claimed the 10th position as she improves her ranking...

Rubina has climbed 2 spots to claim the 10th ranking after the conclusion of 4th set.She claimed 92 points this time with two of herr aims being perfect 10s, alongside..  two 9s and an 8. 

Rubina continues to be at the 12th position as she finishes her 3rd set.. 

An improvement in points number, but Rubina's ranking remains the same... She finished off the 3rd series with 95 points in which she shot 3 perfect 10s and two 9s.

Rubina would need to buckle up from here as only top 8 will make it to the final of the air pistol event. Here is here scorecard- 

Rubina continues to remain at the 12th position as she shoots another 90 points in her 2nd series as well. A perfect 10 for Rubina in the 2nd set and nines in the remaining four. 

India's Tarun crashes out of the Paris Paralympics after losing to France's Lucas Mazur in his final group-stage match. Tarun finishes second in his group with 1 win and 1 loss from 2 matches.

On the day, Tarun gets beaten in straight games, 21-7, 21-16.

Rubina has climbed to the 12th spot as she is taking part in series 2. 

Rubina finishes off her first series with 90 points. Apart from a perfect 10 in the second set, Rubina shoots off 9 in the remaining 5 ones. She is currently at 16th rank

Indian's Rubina Francis is in action at Women's 10m Air Pistol SH1 Qualification event... The top 8 athletes from the qualification round will progress to the final

This is turning out to be a great day for Indian badminton in Paris. Sukant Kadam wins against Thailand's Siripong Teamoarrom in the SL4 men's singles match and proceeds to the semifinal of the tournament by topping his group.

The Indian pair of Anita and Kongannapalle Narayana have qualified for final B having finished the race in the third spot with a timing of 7 minutes 54 seconds. Great Britain and Ukraine qualified for Final A finishing in the top two positions respectively. They will be joined by Brazil and France who finished in top two positions in repêchage 1. On the other hand, USA, Egypt and Thailand will join India and Mexico in Final B from Repechage 1. 

The Indian pair of Anita and Kongannapalle Narayana completed 1500m in 5 minutes 55 seconds and finished the race in 7 minutes 54 seconds and hence finishing on the third spot in Repechage 2 among four nations.

The Indian pair of Anita and Kongannapalle Narayana are in the third position in the PR3 Mixed Double Sculls Repechage having finished 1000m in 3 minutes 54 seconds.

India's Manoj Sarkar finishes his men's singles SL3 campaign with a win over China's Jianyuan Yang. Manoj beats the Chinese player in straight games - 21-15, 21-11.

With this result, India's Nitesh Kumar and Thailand's Bunsun Mongkhon qualify for the semi-finals of the event from Group A.

India's Swaroop Unhalkar fails to qualify for the final of men's SH1 individual10m air rifle competition. Swaroop finishes 14th with a total score of 613.4. The top 8 players qualify for the final of the event, set to be held later today.

Top seed Nitesh Kumar wins his men's SL3 singles match against Thaliand's Bunsun Mongkhon in straight games. Nitesh wins 21-13, 21-4 to cleansweep his group stage affair.

Arshad Shaik couldn't make it to the final of the Men's C1-3 1000m Time Trial - Qualifying round. 

Arshad Shaik has plummeted to 11th place in the rankings.  With only the top 6 progressing to the final, that is the end of Arshad's campaign in the event... 

Swaroop Unhalkar is still behind the top 8 mark. The shooter still stands at the 15th position after shooting 101.8 and 102.4 in his 4th and 5th series. He will have to pull up his game big time to qualify for the finals here.

Arshad Shaik recorded a factor time of 1:21:416 in the 1000m Time Trial-Qualifying round. He finished first 250m in 22.550 seconds. Completed the 500m mark in 44.973 seconds and 750m in 1:02:377 minutes..

Jyoti Gaderiya failed to qualify for the final. She finished 11th with a factored time of 49.233 in the Women's C1-3 500m Time Trial - Qualifying. The athletes with the 6 fastest factored times progress to the finals.

Swaroop Mahavir Unhalkar slightly betters his position in the field. After shooting 101.8 in the first series, Swaroop shoots 103 and then 101.7 in the next two series. He is currently in the 15th position.

Remember that top 8 shooters will qualify for the finals.

India's Jyoti Gaderiya is participating in Women's C1-3 500m Time Trial - Qualifying round as she completed the race in 52.098 seconds. She completed the first 250 meters within 29.252 seconds. 

India's Swaroop Mahavir Unhalkar is currently in action in his SH1 men's 10m Air Rifle qualification round. He has shot 101.8 after his first series. The top 8 athletes after shooting 6 series will go into the finals, set to be held later today.

Mandeep Kaur held her nerve in the final game and beat Australia's Céline Aurelie Vinot by 21-17. Kaur made a brilliant comeback after losing the first match by 21-23 and quickly regrouped to win the next two games. She will look to carry her winning momentum moving ahead in the tournament.

Mandeep Kaur has made a brilliant comeback in the second game against Australia's Céline Aurelie Vinot defeating her by 21-10. Having made her what back in the match, she will be eager to close it out in the third game and progress ahead in the event.

India's Mandeep Kaur has lost her first game against Australia's Céline Aurelie Vinot by 23-21. The Indian para athlete started the game well taking an early lead but the Australian clawed her way back into the game and sealed it in the end.

India's Mandeep Kaur has taken a lead in the game 1 against Australia's  Céline Aurelie Vinot leading by 11-7. She will be eager to continue with her momentum and seal the game.

Para shooter Rubina Francis could also compete in the medal event of P2 Women's 10m SH1 air pistol final provided she qualifies for the same. The Indian contingent will have a shot at podium finish with a total of four medal events scheduled in the day. Swaroop Unhalkar could well be seen shooting for a medal if he qualifies for the finals of Men's 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1. Jyoti Gaderiya will also have an opportunity to bring glory to the nation as she competes in women's C1-3 500m Time Trial medal events provided she qualifies for the same. Arshad Shaik will also have a shot at the medal if he qualifies for the final of Men's C1-3 1000M time trial -C2 in Para Cycling.  

Mandeep Kaur will start India's proceedings on Day 3 as she competes in Para-Badminton Women's singles SL3 Group Stage. After her, Swaroop Unhalkar will compete in the men's Para shooting in R1 Men's 10m air rifle standing SH1 qualification round. Meanwhile, Nitesh Kumar will aim to progress ahead in Men's Singles SL3 Group Stage in Para Badminton as he arrives at the court.

The Indian contingent had a phenomenal Day 2 at the Paralympics as they managed to add four medals to their tally with our Para-shooters taking the tricolour high with their remarkable performances. Manish Narwal won the silver medal in men's 10m shooting, Avani Lekhara won gold to defend her shooting crown and Mona Agarwal won bronze in the event. Preethi Pal won a bronze medal in the women's 100m T35 final. Hence, our Para athletes will be eager to build on their success from Day 2 and add more medals to India's tally.
