Andrey Rublev is tightening his grip on this third-round clash, taking the second set 7-6(2) against Nuno Borges after a gripping 1 hour and 49 minutes on Court Suzanne-Lenglen.

The second set was absolute chaos at times, with both players trading blows and breaking serve three times each in a rollercoaster battle. Borges kept refusing to back down, but when the pressure peaked in the tie-break, Rublev completely raised his level.

French Open: Swiatek wins 1st set

Iga Swiatek is one set away from another commanding victory at Roland Garros after taking the opener 6-4 against fellow Pole Magda Linette on Court Philippe-Chatrier.

It wasn’t vintage Swiatek all the way through, though. The four-time champion looked slightly shaky on serve at times, getting broken twice and showing a few rare signs of vulnerability.

But champions find answers quickly and Swiatek did exactly that, responding by breaking Linette’s serve three times in a high-quality 40-minute opening set.
