Wimbledon Day 8 Highlights: Sinner gets a walkover after injury ends Dimitrov's dream

Not only is he a great player, but also a good friend of mine. We understand each other very well off the court, too. Seeing him in this position is heartbreaking. Having his back against the Wall, Jannik Sinner has started the third set positively as he holds his serve. It will be a herculean task for him to make a comeback from here as Dimitrov's strong serves have got the better of him 13 times so far in the match. 

The World number one Jannik Sinner has lost his second straight set against Grigor Dimitrov. The Bulgarian has been phenomenal with his serves, having scored 13 aces in the first two sets. The 34-year-old is on the brink of history and is about to cause one of the biggest upsets of the ongoing season. 

After making a brief comeback by earning a break point, Jannik Sinner has been once again put under pressure by Dimitrov, who's hell bent on making the World number 1 dance to his tunes. His terrific serves have brought him on the verge of sealing the second set as well. 

Iga Swiatek has progressed to the quarterfinals of Wimbledon for the second time in her career. She hardly broke a sweat against Clara Tauson, beating her 6-4, 6-1 in straight sets. The Polish will next take on Laura Siegemund in the quarter-final on 8th July. 

Jannik Sinner has been struggling with an injury to his elbow as he gets medical attention midway through the game. The Italian has looked like a pale shadow of himself so far, making silly errors and not being able to convert the chances. He's lost his first set of the tournament today and has been given a run for his money by Grigor Dimitrov.

Iga Swiatek has won the first set against Clara Tauson 6-4. The eighth seed has converted three break points so far and is aiming to enter her second quarter finals at Wimbledon with ease. 

Grigor Dimitrov is on the brink of causing one of the biggest upsets of the tournament as he's completely dominated the World number 1 Jannik Sinner in the fourth round fixture so far. Sinner has looked completely out of rhythm, having been broke twice in  the match so far. 

Grigor Dimitrov is taking the fight to the top seeded Sinner. He takes the first set here so far and the Italian needs to rework things if he is to stand a chance.

Meanwhile, in the women's singles divison, top-seed Iga Swiatek's match is also underway. Like Sinner she has also started on the back foot but has opened her account with a game point in the first set.

Jannik Sinner is in action as he takes on Grigor Dimitrov. Not the ideal start for the top seed as he is three game points down in the first set and has yet to open his account.

Ben Shelton also is able to secure the win and make it to the quarterfinals. Sonego put up one hell of a fight in those two sets but the American was able to dig out the key points to ensure his victory in the fourth round. He will now take on the winner of the Sinner vs Dimitrov match in the quarters.

Andreeva takes the win. Dominant display by the Russian star who makes light work of her opponent. Off to the quarterfinals she goes. Interestingly, she is also the youngest player to go through to this stage in 18 years.

Looks like Mirra Andreeva is in firm control. She easily breezed through the first set and looks to be on track to take the second as well. Won't be surprised if this is a quick win for the Russian star.

Ben Shelton has taken the second set after a hammering win in the tie-breaker 7 points to 1. He has also started off the third set ojn a dominant note as well.

Looks like Virat Kohli was present at the centre court. The cricketer even shared a post of appreciation for Djokovic after his stellar performances. Interestingly not many people spotted him at the venue. 

We’ve got a tense one brewing as Ben Shelton and Lorenzo Sonego head into a third-set tie-breaker. The American has raced to an early 3-0 lead, applying all the pressure.

With the match level at one set apiece, this tie-break could be pivotal. Whoever takes it grabs the momentum — and leaves the other chasing the game.
