As a video of Preity Zinta expressing her glee over Mumbai Indians' failure to qualify for the IPL 2018 knockouts went viral, the KXIP co-owner explained why she was so happy in the first place.
Mumbai Indians, the defending champions, needed to win their match against Delhi Daredevils on Sunday to stay in contention for the race to the play-offs. KXIP, meanwhile, had to defeat Chennai Super Kings by a huge margin to make it to the knockout stages.
As it turned out, MI lost to Daredevils by 11 runs. KXIP, hours later, lost to CSK by five wickets. Both teams were knocked out of the tournament.
