Indian Army to allow women in combat roles?

The army for the first time is officially looking at the possibility of including women in the combat role in the Indian Army.

So far, there has been a major reservation about what would happen in case a soldier was taken hostage or killed by the enemy country.

According to sources, Indian Army seems willing to follow many other armies of the world. There are certain posts where women have been included in the patrolling in areas of Punjab and Rajasthan.

The army has been so far reluctant to bring women in the combat role but this has been a long standing demand of the women activists.
