US-Israel-Iran War Highlights: Iran's April Fool's Day dig at Trump after 'truce with new regime' claim

US-Israel-Iran War Highlights: As the Iran-US-Israel conflict intensifies, multiple flashpoints are emerging across the region. US President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran’s “new regime president” has sought a ceasefire, though he did not clarify who he was referring to, a claim Tehran has dismissed as “false and baseless”. Trump said the US would consider a ceasefire only when the Strait of Hormuz is “open, free, and clear”, warning, “Until then, we are blasting Iran into oblivion or, as they say, back to the Stone Ages.” Meanwhile, thousands of US Army troops from the elite 82nd Airborne Division have begun arriving in the region, deepening Washington’s military footprint. Iranian sources also claimed a Mahan Air civilian plane bound for New Delhi on a humanitarian medicines mission was struck at Mashhad airport. In Tehran, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, in a fourth written statement, hailed Revolutionary Guard Navy chief Alireza Tangsiri as a brave symbol of Iran’s Gulf presence. He was killed last week in a strike. Stay with indiatoday.tech for the latest and live updates.

Iran War: Additional US troops are heading towards Middle East amid conflict

Thousands of additional US troops are heading to the Middle East as the Trump administration has insisted that progress has been made in talks with Iran and has threatened to escalate the war if a deal is not reached soon.

The aircraft carrier USS George HW Bush deployed Tuesday and is slated to go to the Middle East along with three destroyers, two U.S. officials said. The carrier strike group consists of more than 6,000 sailors.

It comes as thousands of soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division have also begun arriving in the Middle East, according to two other U.S. officials, who, like the others, spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive military plans.

While the majority of those troops are part of a rotation of forces planned before the war, some are among roughly 1,500 paratroopers the Trump administration decided to surge into the region last week.

The Trump administration has not said what those troops will be doing, but the 82nd Airborne is trained to parachute into hostile or contested territory to secure key territory and airfields. The AUS Navy ship carrying about 2,500 Marines recently arrived in the Middle East, and another 2,500 Marines are also being deployed from California.

Gulf War: Fire erupts at Kuwait Airport after Iranian drones hit fuel tank

A drone attack by Iran and its allies hit a fuel tank at Kuwait International Airport, sparking a fire, authorities said.

The state-run KUNA news agency said the attack early Wednesday sparked a “large fire” at the airport.

It said there were no immediate injuries from the attack and firefighters were working to control the blaze.

Kuwait International Airport has been attacked before by Iran during the war. The KUNA report suggested the attack may have been launched by Iranian-supported militias in Iraq with Tehran’s support.

In another strike, Bahrain said early on Wednesday morning that it was working to extinguish a fire at a business facility that resulted from an Iranian attack.
