Iranian envoy says Tehran will not stand idle if Trump follows through on ‘war crime’ threats. Amir-Saeid Iravani, Tehran’s representative at the UN, said that Trump’s threats earlier Tuesday that a “whole civilization will die” if Iran does not make a deal “constitute incitement to war crimes and potentially genocide.”

During a Security Council session on the Strait of Hormuz, Iravani urged the international community to call out Trump’s rhetoric before it’s too late. “Iran will not stand idle in the face of such egregious war crimes. It will exercise, without hesitation, its inherent right of self-defense and will take immediate and proportionate reciprocal measures,” he said.

Madagascar declared a nationwide state of energy emergency for 15 days on Tuesday, citing disruptions in energy supply caused by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, its cabinet said. Several African governments have responded to surging global oil prices, spurred by the Iran war, by implementing sharp fuel price increases, energy-saving measures, or electricity rationing, according to Reuters.

"This decision was taken following the observation that the country is facing a deep crisis due to disruptions in energy supply across the island, linked to the conflict in the Middle East," the cabinet said in a statement. "The declaration of a state of energy emergency allows authorities to take exceptional and urgent measures to restore energy supply and ensure the continuity of public services."

The King Fahd Causeway, a key bridge linking Saudi Arabia to Bahrain, closed on Tuesday for the second time as a precautionary measure following alerts issued by the National Early Warning Platform in the Eastern Province. The King Fahd Causeway Authority said on X Tuesday evening vehicle traffic has been suspended.

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has accused Israel of undermining Islamabad’s efforts to broker ceasefire talks between the United States and Iran, saying the strike on Tehran came just as both sides were preparing to engage.

“We were very optimistic (about talks) before Monday night,” Dar told lawmakers in the Senate, according to Geo News, adding that Washington and Tehran had agreed to Pakistan’s role as a facilitator, with talks expected to take place in Islamabad.

Dar said Pakistan acted as an intermediary, conveying a 15-point set of US conditions to Iran and relaying Tehran’s five-point response back to Washington.
 

The United Arab Emirates said it “deeply regrets” the UN Security Council’s failure to endorse a resolution on securing navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, calling for renewed international action.

In a statement, the UAE said it will continue to push for coordinated global efforts to restore safe navigation through the strategic waterway amid rising tensions.
 

The Israeli military said it carried out a strike targeting a senior commander at Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters, with the outcome of the operation still under review.

In a statement on X, the IDF said precautions were taken to minimise civilian harm, including the use of precision munitions and aerial surveillance. Reports also indicated that a nearby synagogue was damaged during the strike. The Israeli military expressed regret over the incident, stressing that the operation was aimed at a high-value military target.

The US ambassador to the United Nations has called on “responsible” nations to join Washington in efforts to secure the Strait of Hormuz, following Chinese and Russian vetoes of a UN Security Council resolution.
 

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Iran still has time to strike a deal with the United States, setting a firm deadline as tensions escalate.

“The Iranian regime has until 8 PM Eastern Time to meet the moment and make a deal with the United States. Only the President knows where things stand and what he will do,” she said, responding to reports that Tehran had cut off direct diplomacy.

US Congressman Ro Khanna has called for invoking the 25th Amendment to remove President Donald Trump, accusing him of threatening actions that could violate international law.

“We need to invoke the 25th Amendment and remove Trump. Threatening war crimes is a blatant violation of our constitution and the Geneva Conventions,” Khanna said in a post on X.

The Israeli military has issued a warning to vessels operating in the maritime zone between Tyre and Ras Naqoura in southern Lebanon, urging immediate movement out of the area.

It said all vessels must sail north of Tyre without delay, signalling potential military activity along the coastal stretch.

Iraq’s Kataib Hezbollah said it will release abducted American journalist Shelly Kittleson, adding that she must leave the country immediately upon her release.

The group did not provide further details on the circumstances of her abduction or the timeline for her departure.

Air defence systems were activated over Tehran, with fighter jets flying at low altitude across the city, according to Iran’s Borna news agency.

US President Donald Trump said in an interview with Fox News that “8 p.m. is happening” for now, reaffirming his deadline for potential strikes on Iran’s bridges and energy infrastructure.

He added that the timeline could still shift if negotiations produce concrete results, saying, “if negotiations move forward today and there is something concrete, that could change,” but stressed that “at this hour it is moving forward with the plans that we have.”
 

The UN Security Council failed to adopt a Bahrain-backed resolution aimed at protecting shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, after China and Russia vetoed the measure and other major powers raised objections.

The Israeli military said Iran launched another ballistic missile toward central Israel, with air raid sirens sounding across central regions and parts of the West Bank. According to the IDF, the missile was allowed to land in an open area “according to protocol,” and there were no immediate reports of injuries.
 

Iran’s Kharg Island remains under control with no damage to key infrastructure following US-Israeli strikes, according to Iran’s Mehr news agency citing local sources.

On Tuesday, the US military hit 50 military targets on Kharg Island, Iran's strategic oil hub, according to The Wall Street Journal. 

The White House has rejected suggestions that recent remarks by US Vice President JD Vance hinted at a potential nuclear strike on Iran, insisting no such implication was made. After JD Vance said the US has tools it has “so far haven’t decided to use,” the White House responded sharply on X, stating: “Literally nothing the VP said here ‘implies’ this, you absolute buffoons.”
