Tesla CFO Vaibhav Taneja appointed treasurer of Elon Musk's America Party

Elon Musk has launched a new political outfit called the America Party, appointing Tesla's CFO Vaibhav Taneja as its first official member and treasurer. Taneja, an Indian-origin financial expert, will be responsible for managing the party's finances and federal compliance. A Delhi University graduate and Chartered Accountant, Taneja joined Tesla in 2017 following the acquisition of SolarCity. He rose to become Tesla's CFO in 2023 and made headlines in 2024 for his $139 million paycheck. Musk's political move comes after a fallout with Donald Trump, who criticised the billionaire saying he 'has gone off the rails'. The announcement led to an 8% drop in Tesla's share price.
