Mixed reactions have poured in across Iran following the reported killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in strikes by the US and Israel, with scenes of both celebration and mourning emerging from different cities. Videos showing people cheering, honking car horns, lighting fireworks and gathering around bonfires in cities including Isfahan and Karaj, while some families of slain protesters were also seen celebrating at home and on the streets. At the same time, images from Tehran showed pro-government gatherings mourning Khamenei’s death, with people holding his photos and paying tribute.
