A former Afghan policewoman, Khatera Hashmi, was shot multiple times last October in the capital of Ghazni province, south of Kabul. Hashmi’s father had vehemently opposed her decision to join the police force. She was attacked and tortured while she was five-months pregnant and her eyes were gouged out. Hashmi says how, in the name of Islam, the Taliban has spread fear among people. Even during her stay in India, Hashmi continues to face troubles in her work life and is worried about her children in Afghanistan, which is currently under Taliban rule. Watch the full interview.
