Hong Kong protests: Police, activists in fiery stand-off at university

The bloody standoff between security forces and activists at Polytechnic University has entered its second day after a night of mayhem in which a police van was set alight and a police officer was shot with an arrow.

On Sunday, Hong Kong protesters shot arrows and hurled petrol bombs from a barricaded university at police who fired tear gas and water cannon in some of the worst violence in the Chinese-ruled city since anti-government unrest erupted five months ago.
