An Israeli official has confirmed to the Jerusalem Post that Israel attempted to assassinate Iran's intelligence minister, Esmail Khatib, in an overnight strike. Khatib is considered one of the closest figures to Mujtaba and heads Iran's intelligence arm. The strike follows the targeting and killing of two significant Iranian figures the previous day, Ali Larijani and the Basij chief. Israel has not yet confirmed whether Khatib was killed or injured in the strike, and his current condition remains unknown. Israeli media reports suggest conflicting information about the outcome of the assassination attempt. According to a spokeswoman for the Israeli Prime Minister's office, Israel is working on what is described as a leveled assassination attempt targeting top Iranian leadership to weaken the regime's command structure.
