People in Pakistan's largest city Karachi expressed disappointment over the sentencing of former Prime Minister Imran Khan in two different cases.
Shiza Khan, a resident of Karachi, said the judgements against Imran would tarnish the image of Pakistan.
Shaukat Korai, another resident, said after the judgement he had no hope from the upcoming election.“Because of the way one political party is being targeted, I don’t think the 2024 election will deliver a credible result,” Korai said.
Earlier on Wednesday, a Pakistani court sentenced former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife to 14 years in prison each for corruption, a day after another special court convicted Khan for leaking state secrets and gave him a 10-year prison sentence.
Khan and his wife are accused of retaining and selling state gifts when the former premier was in power.
