At a time when the world is struggling in its fight against coronavirus, a university in Russia claims to have successfully completed human clinical trials for the world’s first Covid vaccine. Russia’s Sechenov University completed the development, according to reports published in local media outlets.
The director of the Institute for Translational Medicine and Biotechnology Vadim Tarasov confirmed the development to Sputnik news. Tarasov said the University has started its human clinical trials of the vaccine on June 18. He added that the first group of volunteers will be released on July 15 and the second group will be released on July 20. It may be noted that the vaccine has been produced by Gamalei Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology in Russia. While no details bout commercial production have been disclosed, this could be a major breakthrough in the fight against Covid-19.
