In a move to make its performance lineup more accessible, KTM has introduced downsized 350cc variants of the KTM 390 Duke and KTM 390 Adventure in India. The new models leverage a lower 18% GST bracket, allowing the brand to reduce prices of its 390 range.

The 350cc-powered KTM 390 Duke is priced at Rs 2,77,268, while the KTM 390 Adventure comes in at Rs 2,80,905 (both ex-showroom, Delhi). Despite the smaller engine, KTM claims the new variants deliver a familiar riding experience, producing 41.5bhp and 33.5Nm from a 349.32cc motor. Key attributes such as chassis geometry, ground clearance, electronics package including the TFT display and overall ergonomics remain unchanged.

Importantly, the introduction of these new variants does not replace the existing models. The current 399cc lineup will continue alongside them, now rebranded to distinguish the range. The standard 390 Duke becomes the 390 Duke R, while the 390 Adventure range adopts suffixes such as S, X and R depending on the variant.

The new 350cc trims undercut their 399cc counterparts by roughly Rs 62,000, creating a more accessible entry point into KTM’s performance segment. However, the downsizing does come with a modest drop in output, around 4.5bhp and 5.5Nm less than the larger engine which could influence buying decisions for enthusiasts weighing performance against price.

This strategic expansion follows increased competition in the segment, particularly after Triumph Motorcycles introduced its smaller-capacity 400cc range in India. Unlike some rivals that have replaced larger models with downsized versions, KTM’s dual-engine strategy allows buyers to choose between higher performance and greater affordability.

According to Manik Nangia, President of Probiking at Bajaj Auto, the move is about "bringing genuine KTM performance within reach of a much larger audience" while expanding the brand’s rider community.
