Hum Saath Saath Nahin Hain: Honeymoon turns into family trip, bride seeks divorce
A dream honeymoon turned into a nightmare when a newlywed bride discovered she would be sharing the trip with her husband's parents and siblings. The fallout has reached counselling sessions, with divorce now on the table.

Bollywood made it look heartwarming. Real life did not.
What looked straight out of a beloved scene from the 1999 Bollywood family drama Hum Saath Saath Hain has landed a newlywed couple in counselling and pushed their marriage to the brink of divorce in Uttar Pradesh.
Unlike the film, where Sadhana (Tabu) happily accompanies her husband Vivek (Mohnish Bahl) on a honeymoon trip with the entire extended family in tow, the bride in this case was far from amused when her husband allegedly turned their honeymoon into a family outing by bringing along his parents and siblings.
The disagreement snowballed into a bitter marital dispute, with the couple now undergoing counselling as divorce looms.
FROM DREAM HONEYMOON TO FAMILY FEUD
According to information shared at a family counselling centre, the woman has accused her husband of taking his parents, sister and brother along on their honeymoon shortly after their wedding.
What she expected to be the first private chapter of married life instead became a group trip.
The wife told counsellors that a honeymoon is meant to be a special time for a husband and wife to understand each other and build a bond. With family members constantly around, she felt she never got an opportunity to spend meaningful time alone with her husband.
What began as disappointment soon turned into frequent arguments. The friction eventually became so severe that the matter reached the counselling centre.
'HOW IS THAT WRONG?'
The husband, however, sees the situation very differently.
According to counsellors, he has maintained that he took his family along because he wanted everyone to be happy. He reportedly believes there was nothing inappropriate about including his parents and siblings in the trip and does not feel he made a mistake.
That difference in expectations has become the biggest obstacle in the marriage.
While the bride sees the honeymoon as a missed opportunity to begin married life together, the groom insists his intentions were good and family-oriented.
THREE COUNSELLING SESSIONS, NO BREAKTHROUGH
The dispute has already been through three rounds of counselling, but the gap between the two sides remains wide.
Counsellors recently conducted another session and have given the couple additional time to reflect on their future. Despite repeated efforts, no compromise has emerged so far.
With neither side willing to back down, the marriage now finds itself at a crossroads.
If the deadlock continues, the matter could move towards divorce proceedings.
MARRIAGE ARRANGED THROUGH WEBSITE
The case involves a woman from the Ramraj area of Meerut district and a man from Delhi's Patel Nagar.
The woman is a graduate, while the man studied hospitality management in Singapore.
Their marriage was arranged through a matrimonial website and, by all accounts, began with the hope of a fresh start.
Instead, a honeymoon that was supposed to bring the couple closer has become the very reason their relationship is fighting for survival.
For now, counsellors are making one more attempt to save the marriage.
