A young woman named Deepika died in Greater Noida in an alleged dowry death case. Her family claims she was harassed and killed by her husband and in-laws over demands for a Fortuner vehicle and Rs 51 lakh in cash. The family stated that a Scorpio car and significant dowry were already given during the wedding a year ago. According to the initial statement by the Noida police, the death occurred after she fell from the third floor of her house. However, Deepika's family disputes this, alleging she was tortured and pointing to multiple injuries on her body. A postmortem is currently underway to determine the exact cause of death. The victim's brother received a call from the in-laws claiming she had fallen and sustained injuries. The incident highlights the ongoing issue of dowry-related harassment, with the family maintaining that the victim faced constant pressure over the past five to six months.
