Luxury at every price point: Puneet Chhatwal on changing trends in hospitality

At the India Today Conclave Mumbai, Puneet Chhatwal, MD & CEO of Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), highlighted the evolving definition of luxury in the hospitality industry. According to Chhatwal, luxury has become increasingly experiential, offering more tailored and immersive experiences at various price points.

“Luxury is timeless, but at the moment, it is becoming more experiential in every price segment,” he noted. While this shift has long been prevalent in the G7 and G10 countries, it is now rapidly emerging in India.

Chhatwal linked this trend to rising disposable incomes and shifting consumer expectations, stressing that brands must evolve to meet the aspirations of modern customers. He emphasized that luxury today is not just about exclusivity, but about delivering unique, memorable experiences across all price levels, making it accessible to a broader audience.
