India has clocked a record 2,17,353 Covid-19 cases and 1,185 deaths due to infection in the past 24 hours, according to the Union health ministry, taking the caseload in the country to over 1.42 crore. India crossed the 2-lakh mark in the daily Covid-19 cases on Thursday, for the first time since the pandemic began in the country back in 2020.
The top three states that have registered maximum Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours are Maharashtra with 61,695 cases, followed by Uttar Pradesh with 22,339 cases, and Delhi with 16,699 Covid-19 cases.
With the surging number of deaths from the escalating Covid-19 cases, India's death toll has climbed to 1,74,308. India currently has 15,69,743 active Covid-19 cases, according to the health ministry.
