Night curfews, lockdown have limited impact on containing Covid spread: Centre to Maharashtra

The Centre on Tuesday wrote to Maharashtra over the newly imposed lockdown and night curfews in parts of the state amid surge in coronavirus cases.

In a letter to Maharashtra CS, the Union health ministry says "measures such as night curfews and lockdowns have very limited impact on containing transmission."

The Centre, in its letter to Maharashtra government, also said that surveillance to check the spread of coronavirus needs to be "strengthened with active house searching or active cases in containment zones".
