Bihar Board 10th Result 2026 declared Highlights: Toppers to get Rs 2 lakh along with a laptop and monthly scholarship

Students dissatisfied with their marks in one or more subjects can apply for re-evaluation.

The Bihar Board will open the online scrutiny window from April 1 to April 7, 2026, allowing students to request a re-check of their answer sheets.

The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has officially released the Class 10 Matric results, prompting a wave of reactions from students across the state. While a large number of candidates are celebrating their performance with family and friends, others are carefully assessing their scores and planning their next academic steps.

The announcement marks a significant turning point in the academic journey of lakhs of students, opening the path toward higher secondary education and future career choices.
 

Under the Dr Rajendra Prasad Medha Scholarship scheme, the top 10 students will receive a Rs 2,000 monthly scholarship for up to two years.

Eligible students can avail the scholarship during Classes 11 and 12 if enroled in recognised state or central government institutions.

Those who choose a regular technical diploma course will continue to receive Rs 2,000 per month until the completion of their programme.

Bihar Board has announced that meritorious students in the Class 10 examination will be rewarded with cash prizes and laptops.

The state topper will receive Rs 2 lakh, while the second rank holder will get Rs 1.5 lakh and the third will be awarded Rs 1 lakh. Rank-holders from four to 10 will receive Rs 20,000. All the toppers will also get a laptop, a medal and a certificate.

A total of 139 rank-holders who secured top 10 positions will be given prizes. The prize money has doubled from last year.

This initiative aims to recognise and encourage academic excellence among students.

Out of 7,26,057 boys who appeared for the exam, 6,01,390 successfully cleared it. Many boys secured first division results, showing strong performance, although the overall number of successful candidates remained higher among girls this year.

Students who are unable to pass one or more subjects in the Matric examination will be placed in the compartment category. To support these students, the board conducts compartment exams, giving them a valuable second chance to improve their scores and successfully qualify without losing an academic year.

A significant number of students secured top grades this year, with as many as 4,43,723 candidates achieving First Division, reflecting strong academic performance. Meanwhile, 4,75,511 students were placed in the Second Division, indicating a steady overall result trend.

In addition, 3,03,103 students passed with Third Division, while 13,406 candidates were categorised under the Pass Division, completing the overall result distribution.

From 2019 (80.73%) to 2026 (81.79%), the pass percentage has improved by +1.06 percentage points overall.
The lowest performance was recorded in 2021 (78.17%), after which results have shown a steady recovery.
The highest pass percentage in recent years was 82.91% in 2024.
Compared to last year (2025: 82.11%), there is a slight dip of 0.32 percentage points in 2026.

The Bihar Board Matric Result 2026 merit list highlights a tight competition at the top, with several students jointly securing Rank 5 by scoring 486 marks. Among them are Nasrin Parveen from Bhojpur, Abhishik Kumar from Begusarai, Bikash Kumar Gupta from Kaimur, and Rupesh Kumar from Saharsa.

This cluster of high achievers reflects the intense competition this year, with many students scoring closely matched marks and making the top ranks highly competitive.

This year, a total of 139 students have secured positions in the Top 10 merit list due to tied scores. Among them, 57 are girls, showcasing strong representation and competitive performance at the top ranks.

A total of 1,235,743 students have successfully passed the Bihar Board Class 10 (Matric) examination this year, reflecting a strong overall performance.

State topper Pushpanjali Kumari is a student of Simultala Residential School, while Sabrin Parveen hails from Higher Secondary School, Chaurahi in Vaishali. Both have brought pride to their institutions by jointly securing the top position in the state.

The Bihar Board recorded an overall pass percentage of 81.79% in the Class 10 exams this year. A total of 12,35,743 students successfully cleared the examination, with girls outperforming boys in overall success rate.

The board managed to wrap up the checking of answer sheets within 12 days of the exam’s conclusion. This fast-paced evaluation process reflects improved systems and efficient coordination at multiple centres.
