After a decade, Beyonce makes a stunning Met Gala return in diamond skeleton look

Beyonce returned to the Met Gala after 10 years, attending with Jay-Z and Blue Ivy. Her comeback as co-chair turned the family appearance into one of the night's biggest moments.

After a decade-long break, Beyonce returned to the Met Gala 2026 red carpet on May 4, marking one of the most closely watched appearances of the evening. The singer arrived in a sparkling, skeleton-inspired sheer look paired with a feathered cape, aligning with this year’s Fashion Is Art dress code.

Accompanied by her daughter Blue Ivy Carter and husband Jay-Z, the pop star - also a co-chair of this year’s gala - arrived in a look that blended theatre with high fashion. She wore a diamond-encrusted ensemble crafted to resemble a skeleton, complete with a coordinated headpiece.

Speaking during Vogue’s livestream, she reflected on sharing the moment with her daughter. “It feels surreal because my daughter’s here. She looks so beautiful. It’s incredible to be able to share this with her,” she said, according to People.

Her return drew attention not just for the look, but also for the long gap since her last appearance. Beyonce last attended the Met Gala in 2016 for the Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology theme, when she wore a pearl-embellished latex Givenchy gown - one of her most talked-about red carpet moments.

After 2016, she skipped the event for 10 years, making her 2026 outing her first in a decade. The appearance marks a full-circle moment in her association with one of fashion’s most-watched nights.

Before the break, Beyonce had become a regular presence at the Met Gala. She made her debut in 2008 in Armani Priv, returned in 2011 in Emilio Pucci, and attended every year from 2012 to 2016, often in Givenchy.

Over time, she built a reputation for theme-led looks that consistently drew attention. Among the most discussed were her sheer “naked dress” moment in 2015 and the latex Givenchy ensemble in 2016.

Her 2026 appearance also carried added significance as she served as a co-chair for the Met Gala 2026. With her family by her side and a look in sync with the theme, Beyonce’s return emerged as one of the defining moments of the evening.
