Justin Timberlake shared a throwback video with Justin Bieber after the latter gave him a heartfelt shoutout while headlining weekend two of Coachella.
The throwback post featured a young Bieber at the start of his career interacting with Timberlake, along with a recent clip of Bieber performing Timberlake’s iconic track, Cry Me a River, at Coachella, capturing a full-circle moment in their musical journey.
In the throwback video, shared on Instagram, Timberlake is seen having a conversation with a young Bieber before the two pose for a photo.
Bieber's tribute to Timberlake at Coachella
In the other clip, Bieber, now a global star, performs Timberlake's 2002 hit Cry Me a River during his Coachella set.
At Coachella this year, while headlining weekend two, Bieber gave Timberlake a shoutout on stage, acknowledging the latter's influence on his musical journey. He recalled how he grew up listening to Timberlake among other artists, before singing along to a throwback cover of Cry Me a River that he had recorded before becoming famous.
“I know this has been a long road. And I know it’s not always a smooth ride (sic),” Timberlake captioned the post.
“I’m proud of you – and you should be proud of you too. Sending love @lilbieber (sic),” he wrote.
Stars at Bieber's weekend two gig
Bieber’s Coachella weekend two performance featured several surprise appearances. Billie Eilish, a self-proclaimed superfan, joined him on stage for One Less Lonely Girl, while SZA performed Snooze alongside the pop star.
The high-energy set also saw collaborations with Sexyy Red for Sweet Spot and Big Sean, who joined Bieber for performances of As Long as You Love Me and No Pressure.
