Megan Thee Stallion was taken to a New York City hospital after falling ill in the middle of a Broadway performance. No official reason for her hospitalisation was given by her team at the time of publishing.

While sharing Megan's health update, her representative, while speaking to Variety, said, "During Tuesday night’s production, Megan started feeling very ill and was promptly transported to a local hospital, where her symptoms are currently being evaluated. We will share additional updates as more information becomes available."

It was first revealed in February that the Grammy winner would be making her Broadway debut as Harold Zidler, the nightclub impresario originally played by Tony winner Danny Burstein. Performing at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre, her eight-week stint in Moulin Rouge! The Musical launched on March 24 and was scheduled to run until May 17. Following her sudden hospitalisation, it remains to be seen how the production will proceed during her absence.

Earlier, reflecting on the opportunity, Megan expressed her excitement about the transition to the stage. "Stepping onto the Broadway stage and joining the Moulin Rouge! The Musical team is an absolute honour," she said.

"I’ve always believed in pushing myself creatively and theatre is definitely a new opportunity that I’m excited to embrace. Broadway demands a different level of discipline, preparation and storytelling, but I’m up for the challenge and can’t wait for the Hotties to see a new side of me," the rapper added.

Following a seven-year stint on Broadway, Moulin Rouge! The Musical is set to take its final bow on July 26. Upon its closure, the production will have completed 2,265 regular performances and 24 previews, securing its spot as the 36th longest-running show in Broadway history. Although producers haven't specified a particular reason for the decision, the show has maintained a strong following throughout its tenure.

The musical is known for its substantial running costs, largely driven by expensive music licencing fees and a notably intricate stage design.

In 2024, Megan launched her first collaboration with BTS's RM, titled Neva Play. The song featured RM's powerful rap with Megan's dynamic verses, creating a unique musical synergy.
