Off Campus's Hannah aka Ella Bright defends 10-year age gap with Belmont Cameli

Actor Ella Bright, who played Hannah in the show, addressed the discussion around the age gap between her and co-star Belmont Cameli (Garrett Graham) in the romance series Off Campus. She said she never felt uncomfortable while filming their intimate scenes despite concerns raised online about their nearly 10-year age difference.

Speaking on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, Bright, who plays Hannah Wells, said she was 18 while shooting the series and responded to the reaction around the pairing.

“I get people’s concern, but also not once did I feel, one, left out from being younger than everybody. We're all such a family, and everyone was just more than perfect, and I couldn't be more comfortable on this set with these people,” she said.

Bright also said she knew what the role involved before signing on to the project. “I came into this job, and during the chemistry reads, with more than enough information, knowledge and understanding of what this role and the show required,” she explained.

She added that she connected with the character from the start. “And I just fell in love with Hannah and these scripts immediately. There was never a question that I wouldn't want to do this,” she said.

Off Campus is based on Elle Kennedy’s bestselling book series centred around an elite ice hockey team at the fictional Briar University. The story explores friendship, romance and young adulthood.

In the series, Bright plays Hannah, a music student who enters into a fake dating arrangement with hockey star Garrett, played by Cameli, in an attempt to get the attention of her crush Justin, portrayed by Josh Heuston. As the story unfolds, Hannah and Garrett begin developing real feelings for each other.
