The second season of the upcoming Harry Potter series is being written to ensure a shorter gap between seasons. The show is an adaptation of JK Rowling's book series.
Work on the second season of the upcoming Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone series has already begun. The production is likely to have shorter intervals between subsequent seasons.
HBO boss Casey Bloys, in an interview with The Times, said that the network is already developing the second season of the highly anticipated show based on JK Rowling's book series.
Bloys said, "Our goal is to not have a huge gap, you know, especially because the kids are growing. It’s not going to be an annual; the show is too big and too massive. But they’re writing season two now."
Along with Dominic McLaughlin in the titular role, the cast of the HBO series includes actors Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger.
The ensemble cast also includes John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell, Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Bel Powley and Daniel Rigby as Petunia and Vernon Dursley and Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley.
The show is adapted from Rowling's novels, with each season following one book. The recently released Season 1 teaser featured iconic moments from Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, including Harry getting his Hogwarts acceptance letter, meeting Ron on the Hogwarts Express and unwrapping a Quidditch broomstick.
The teaser also gave a quick looks at Dumbledore, Snape, Draco Malfoy, Mr. Ollivander, the Sorting Hat and more. The series was shot at Warner Bros Studios Leavesden in the United Kingdom.
The series is led by showrunner Francesca Gardiner and Succession director Mark Mylod, who helmed multiple episodes. The show's executive producers include Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts and David Heyman.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone will stream on HBO Max in regions where the service is available. For Indian audiences, it will be available on JioHotstar.
