Wheel of Fortune finale: Akshay Kumar gets teary-eyed on stage after tribute

Actor Akshay Kumar turned emotional as Wheel of Fortune India moved towards the end of its first season. A new promo for the grand finale, released on Saturday, showed the actor in tears after the makers surprised him with a tribute video that looked back at his journey as host. The finale is scheduled to air on April 27.
Filmmaker Farah Khan, along with actors Bhumi Pednekar and Jacqueline Fernandez, were on stage with Akshay in the final episode. The promo began on a fun note and played up their easy chemistry. But it soon turned into a moving farewell.
Akshay gets teary-eyed
The emotional turn came with a montage from the season. It revisited funny moments, emotional exchanges and Akshay’s interactions with contestants. A message in the video thanked him for his warmth, humour and presence on the show. The tribute left him visibly moved.
As the video continued, Akshay tried to hold back tears. He said the show had completed 65 episodes and featured nearly 200 contestants. Looking back at the run, he said the experience had been special and remained close to his heart. The promo showed him wiping his eyes on stage as the moment sank in.
There was a personal touch, too, as Akshay shared that his maternal uncle had been present during the finale shoot and had not missed a single episode. He also thanked viewers across the country for the love and support they had given the programme throughout the season.
Fun banter before the finale tribute
Before those emotional moments in the episode, Farah and Akshay had some random moments of banter. Farah got a chest of fake cash and pretended to feed it to Akshay. Jacqueline shared a flirtatious moment with him. Bhumi recalled working with Farah alongside Ananya Panday.
Farah and Akshay also joked about their so-called "list of ex-partners" and revisited past collaborations, including Tees Maar Khan.
Wheel of Fortune India, which premiered earlier this year, marked Akshay’s return to television as a host. Based on the popular global format, the show drew attention for its gameplay and its celebrity appearances. One episode that stood out featured producer Ektaa Kapoor, who offered her winning amount on the show to support actor Rajpal Yadav during an appearance linked to Bhooth Bangla.
