Dramatic drone footage captures lava from Iceland volcano eating houses

In the early hours of January 14, a volcanic eruption on Iceland's Reykjanes Peninsula unleashed a dramatic natural spectacle.

Drone footage captured the harrowing scenes as molten lava from the eruption encroached upon the fishing village of Grindavík. The footage revealed a second fissure, thousands of feet wide, splitting open and spewing forth a relentless stream of lava that breached protective barriers and set homes ablaze.

The once tranquil town was transformed into a perilous landscape with glowing rivers of lava engulfing buildings in their path. The drone's eye view provided a stark perspective of the devastation, showing houses burning amidst pools of fiery lava, while thick plumes of smoke rose against the backdrop of the Icelandic sky.
