Kerala's youngest organ donor saves 5 lives, laid to rest with state honours

A 10-month-old baby, Aalin Sherin Abraham, has become Kerala's youngest organ donor after being declared brain-dead following a tragic road accident on February 13. In an act of immense magnanimity, the grieving family decided to donate the infant's organs, which have now provided a new lease of life to five individuals. The donations included a liver for a six-month-old in Thiruvananthapuram, two kidneys, a heart valve, and eyeballs. The infant was laid to rest with full state honours in recognition of this noble gesture, with Kerala Health Minister Veena George attending the last rites. The report highlights the critical shortage of organ donors in India, where approximately 82,000 patients are currently on waiting lists.
