UP model alleges 10 years of abuse, financial fraud by man who promised marriage
A woman from UP's Meerut has accused a man of subjecting her to physical, emotional and financial exploitation for nearly a decade on the pretext of marriage, while also alleging that she was pressured to undergo multiple abortions and convert her religion.

A woman from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, who works as a model, has accused a local man of physically, emotionally and financially exploiting her for nearly a decade on the pretext of marriage, while also alleging that she was pressured to undergo multiple abortions and convert her religion. Police have registered a case based on her complaint and launched an investigation.
According to the complaint, the woman, a resident of Azad Nagar, moved to Delhi and later Mumbai in 2015 to pursue a modelling career. There, she allegedly met Wasil, who was also associated with the modelling industry.
The woman alleged that Wasil promised to marry her and even helped her pursue opportunities in the entertainment industry, following which they got into a relationship and began living together in Mumbai in 2016.
She claimed that despite repeatedly assuring her of marriage, the accused persuaded her to terminate pregnancies on three occasions. The complainant further alleged that she spent a substantial part of her modelling income on the accused and his family and that between 50 lakh and 60 lakh was taken from her during the relationship.
She visited the accused's residence on May 21 and stayed there for around two weeks. During that period, she allegedly learned from local residents that Wasil was already married to a woman named Mehvish. When she confronted him, the woman alleged that she was assaulted, abused and threatened by the accused and his family members.
She further claimed that she was told marriage would not be possible because she was Hindu and that she would have to convert to Islam if she wished to marry him. The complainant has described the episode as a "love jihad" conspiracy and sought action against the accused and his relatives.
Confirming the complaint, Abhijeet Kumar said the woman had alleged that the accused established a relationship with her on the promise of marriage and also took money from her. He said a case was being registered and further legal action was being taken.
The allegations are being investigated, and police have not yet publicly responded to the specific claims made against the accused.
