Ahead of BRICS summit, India-China hold fresh military talks for over 7 hours

India and China engaged in another round of military discussions on Monday, with focus on the withdrawal of troops from remaining contentious areas in eastern Ladakh and the overall reduction of tensions in the region. The 19th iteration of the Corps Commander level dialogue occurred at the Chushul-Moldo border point on the Indian side of the Line of Actual Control (LAC), as indicated by military sources. Despite diplomatic and military negotiations leading to disengagement in various sectors, Indian and Chinese forces have been in a standoff in certain friction points in eastern Ladakh for over three years. Commencing around 9:30 am, the talks have been underway for over 7 hours now.

Video: Vijay takes oath as Tamil Nadu CM amid loud cheers and chants

TVK leader C Joseph Vijay on Sunday took oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu amid a sea of supporters, his friends and family, and several political leaders. Eight other TVK leaders were sworn in besides him, as ministers in the new government. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also attended the ceremony. The TVK managed to secure the Governor's nod to form the government after the Congress, the CPI, the CPI(M), the VCK, and IUML extended their support to the Vijay-led party for a colaition government.
