In a major reversal of the controversial 2022 hijab policy, the Karnataka government formally withdrew its earlier uniform order with immediate effect.
Bill to bifurcate J&K passed in Rajya Sabha

Rajya Sabha on Monday passed the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill, 2019.
The Reorganisation Bill, introduced by Union Home Minister Amit Shah today in Parliament, proposed bifurcation of the state of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories-- Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
While 125 votes came in the favour of the bill, 61 votes were against it. The approval of the bill has now pronounced Ladakh a separate Union Territory.
