BJP drops Varun Gandhi from Pilibhit seat, retains mother Maneka in UP's Sultanpur

The BJP has dropped Varun Gandhi from the Pilibhit Lok Sabha seat and has retained Maneka in Sultanpur in its fifth list of candidates for the upcoming polls. 

Former Union Minister Maneka Gandhi has been fielded from Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh.

The saffron party excluded Varun Gandhi from Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh and allotted the seat to former Congress leader Jitin Prasada. Former Union minister Jitin Prasada joined the BJP in 2021

The BJP has also given a ticket to a protest leader from Sandeshkhali, Rekha Patra, in the Bashirhat Lok Sabha constituency in its fifth list of faces for 111 Lok Sabha seats.

Video: Vijay takes oath as Tamil Nadu CM amid loud cheers and chants

TVK leader C Joseph Vijay on Sunday took oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu amid a sea of supporters, his friends and family, and several political leaders. Eight other TVK leaders were sworn in besides him, as ministers in the new government. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also attended the ceremony. The TVK managed to secure the Governor's nod to form the government after the Congress, the CPI, the CPI(M), the VCK, and IUML extended their support to the Vijay-led party for a colaition government.
