Covid-19 spike: Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackarey chairs review meeting with BMC commissioner

Amidst an upsurge in Covid-19 cases in Maharashtra, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray held a review meeting with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal and members of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) to review the coronavirus situation in the state.

In the last one week, there has been a steady surge in Maharashtra, following which the state government is now taking all efforts to ensure the situation doesn't worsen in the state.

Raids on marriage halls, clubs, hefty fines on mass violaters and lockdown in 5 districts, Maharashtra government has swung into action.

The state has around 54,306 active cases, which is 37 per cent of the country's caseload.

Last week, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray announced a fresh state of restrictions in view of the rising Covid-19 cases. Thackeray also said that the state government would review the situation in the next eight days to decide whether a lockdown should be imposed.
