Pakistan's mediation bid a ruse to buy US time: Ajay Bisaria

Former Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan Ajay Bisaria describes Pakistan's mediation efforts between the United States and Iran as a 'ruse' and a 'diversionary tactic' rather than serious diplomacy. Speaking on India Today, Bisaria stated that Pakistan is being used as a back channel messenger after Oman refused to continue negotiations following US and Israeli attacks on Iran mid-negotiation. He noted that Pakistan convened a quadrilateral meeting with Egypt, Turkey and Saudi Arabia, with Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar now travelling to Beijing to brief China. Bisaria explained Pakistan has limited leverage with Tehran, citing their historically difficult relationship including missile exchanges at the border. He suggested the US is preparing for a final assault on Iran after 6th April, with approximately 5,000 Marines and sailors and 2,000 paratroopers mobilised. Bisaria advised India to stay out of the current mediation efforts but continue advocating for dialogue and peace in general terms.
