The Election Commission on Friday said that the party name 'Shiv Sena' and the party symbol of bow and arrow will be retained by the Eknath Shinde faction. The ECI froze the earlier name given to the faction -- Balasahebanchi Shiv Sena -- and the symbol of two swords and shields with immediate effect. The Shiv Sena faction led by Uddhav Thackeray got the mashaal (flaming torch) symbol and the name Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray. The two factions were allotted different party names and symbols in October, 2022.
